Hi,ok i had the mot on my van this week,guy said my van has had it.Rust on the chassis ,underbody,cost to much to repair.So going to buy a van ,spend about 5 ,6 grand.Last van a transit,mwb.Looking for a lwb.What kind of vans are you using with your truckmounts and how they holding up.Citroens,renaults they all look good.

Stay away from citreon I've had two relays and both of them had to have repairs which where were more than the vans worth and that's without  the cost of removing and refitting the Truckmount

I've got a vauxhall movano it's really good I did have a fiat and true to expectations the electrics went all the time the auto electrician has become a good friend.

I'm on my second one, the first did 140,000 miles before we got a new one and is still going strong, the current one has done 110,000 no problem with the gear box.

I'm looking at the vw crafter they look good vans with plenty of room inside and vw have some decent offers on at the moment

I had a Vito 112cdi till I was told get it off the road or £200 a day fine now got 115lwb and love it

I've just changed my crafter for a new one, i had a lwb and now have a mwb and the new one carries the weight much better, the old one was always too heavy at the front i always had to take the truckmount out to m.o.t it because it was always sitting on the bump stops. The new ones are a 2lir not 2.5 and pull much better I would try and find a pre registered one mine was six months old with 70 miles on the clock and 8k of list price.

That's the old version Citroens. had mine 5.5 years and no problems.

My van (Ducato) was on the bump stops too when TM first fitted, which is an mot failure.

Its not over weight it's just the original suspension is crap, had to have upgraded rear suspension (leafs) fitted. It's off the bump stops now.

this was the front that was on the bump stops,you cant get a uprated spring for the front on a crafter because apparently it wont fit.The mwb is a meter shorter so the machine is more in the middle of the two wheels so the rear take some of the weight making for a much better ride.

I have had most of the vans over the years. My last ducato cost an absolute fortune to keep on the road. Rust used to be a big problem with transits, I now have a crafter and to be honest they are in a different league in terms of build quality. Just hope that it is going to be as reliable as their reputation suggests. If I had not bought the crafter it would have been a master but these vehicle are in different price brackets.

Adrian I know what your saying and funnily enough I have found 2 at a garage both pre registered and both 9k off original price with minimal mileage.

How much room do you have in the back after tm and water tanks and hose reel don't suppose you have any pice you could email me or if you don't mind let me have your phone number and ill call you

Dave i don't have any pictures at the moment but can take some tomorrow and send them to you. Ive got a a Bluewave diesel with a submount tank, hosereel on one side and racking down the other side with a portable at the back behind the rack. To be honest it all fitted better in the lwb better because the hosereel went behind the wheel arch on the floor but i've had to box out the wheel arch and put the hosereel on the top in the new van.

Also am I right in thinking that the crafter is the same van as the merc sprinter

And Renault master the same as vauxhall movano

And Peugeot same as Citroen
