hi guys, anyone got advice on how to clean a large oil patch from the road. The oil has been on the road for about a year.

Hi Shaun
If it's tarmac then you're really going to struggle I'm afraid. Pressure washers and steam cleaners in general tend to be too aggressive and any solvent degreaser will affect the bitumen.
If you try either, do so with caution!

Tarmac/asphalt = petrol chemical base = oil/fuel
Block paving = concrete = blotting paper.
Dig out and relay if they want it looking new!

they supply the oil recovery/clean up businesses with products to clean oil from Tar or Concrete etc

Shaun.I used to be in civil engineering.The only way is to dig it up & relay if Tarmac/Bitmac.If you don't it will be v weak & brittle.
Seen some concrete cleaned & looked great but does depend on how bad the oil stain is of course.
