What's wrong with a roof rack?  Why do you want your ladders inside your van?

i keep my ladder in my van (mercedes vito), the ladder is just over 2.5m long, I will be incorporating a rack when i board the van out in the next couple of months. Roof racks are damnexpensive for a merc van!

you can buy telescopic ladders as well, i've saw them on ebay but not for a while. apparently they are used on yachts i think, but they only extend to 4 meter max, not tall enough for most window cleaners

roof racks are fine - but how neat and tidy is a ladder that stores in your van.
more secure
quicker and easier to get in and out (instead of on and off)
i only use the ladder for access as i'm water fed pole - so nice to have ladderless
on sign writting and no ladder in sight.
no concern about is it going to come off when i'm doing 98 down the a12.
also a smoother ride with better mpg.

lastly i just like the look of a van without ladders on top ;D

also - a part from all that,
i was looking at a van with a tailgate at the back
and thought ladder inside would be best because of that..............

That's handy to know.  I'm information gathering at the moment to see what choices I will have when I eventually change systems.
