Roof Tile Cleaning
« on: April 23, 2010, 12:44:44 pm »
Just been given a job roof cleaning, normally do patios/driveways myself.  I've heard some people say not to use pressure washers on them, but then other people say it's absolutely fine as long as your doing it downwards with a smaller pressure washer - i:e cheap electric jobby as aposed to a petrol pressure washer.  What's the deal then?  And do I need to use any chemicals?  If so can someone link some examples please?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Check there is a membrane underneath the tiles.

I always like to have a 90 degree angle so I am hitting the angle that drops onto the tile below.

I use turbo nozzles and 3000psi, no chemicals required.

If you can link up with someone in your area or on here that wants to help you out, split the price with them. You get the experience and some cash as well!!

The small lip of the tile above - that meets the tile below.I have seen people not clean this piece because they are frightened of getting water underneath the tiles and they seem to wash down. When the roof is finished it looks a right mess!!

Giving you an idea of price I can't do. Too many variables, access all round, particluar areas requiring cleaning, any problems with the garden area around the property.

Take into account a massive amount of tidying up, including all guttering, fascias, soffits and full UPVC, windows to be cleaned. Area all around property to be cleaned.

How are you going to get to roof level and then clean it??

I know we all have to start somewhere but if you get it wrong it could be very costly. I would look for someone to work the first one with.

What's to lose??
