don't understand where this person is being miss leading, if its the 4 bed in an hour, then whats wrong with that, there not claiming that it will be a good job.

trading standards wouldn't even bother. its just us being pedantic.

sorry guys but all though i don't like ass wipes like these people, there not actually breaking any laws.

any sensible person would realise that if he or she has to sell trivia on ebay then there not doing that well at the profession they claim there good at. and its not like there flying off the shelf. ;D

we could get together and flood ebay with the truth, thats the only thing we could do to combat litrature like this.

all for one. power to the cc's.

i'm planning a youtube vid that puts a  rug doctor against a trucky. soon as i get a friendly custy with a minger. watch this space ;D

Derek, if you could do some special effects like your TM sucking up the Rug Doctor then that really would be a big laugh.

For showing to the public you would have to do a "serious" demo clearly showing the qualities that the RD lacks compared to a pro machine.
My other suggestion would be a good laf for us c/cleaners.

Derek. You raise some valid points however, I have to disagree with you re:misleading claims. Advertising Standards require any claims made can be validated in, or by, practice. If the IICRC or other trade body was to challenge this guys Ebay ad and the ASA became involved he would have to show that his claims of service were acurate (and honest).

We all have to abide by ASA rules and it's only when false claims are challenged that they will become involved. Having met you at the CCDO I assume you give your customers the best service you can and don't mislead them with nonsense which would not only disappoint them but lose you a hard won customer.

OK guys - I couldnt resist it - sent him a email from the ebay advert

My comments to him were:-
How can you clean a large 4 bed house in "an hour or so". Lets say 90 minutes to do 4 bedrooms, 2
reception rooms, a hall, stairs and landing.
I just wish you were nearer and I would hire you just to see this done.
I do,though, think you are seriously misleading any would be newbie to
carpet cleaning - which cannot be right.

His reply.........
Well, you seem a little upset. What's the problem? We have a full Elecrical contracting company. A full plumbing and heating company. We have full blown domestic and commercial cleaning companies running 24/7 365 days per year.
We are busy, busy, busy and work very hard. That's why we are the No1 company in our area...and have been for 27 years.
Your problem is simple...
You DO NOT work hard enough or quickly enough.
If you are happy with what you do...GREAT......we don't hire negative complainers like you...in fact...they don't last one week with us...
My advise...
Go and get a job in McDonalds or something like that because you certainly ARE NOT cut out for the carpet cleaning business, and my 90 year old granny can do that compared to real graft like plumbing and heating installations...
Honestly, carpet cleaning is the easiest job in the world...its not real work...I have never broken out in a sweat and I'm almost 55 now.
I really am trying to get my head round why you think this is difficult.
We do carpet cleaning for free sometimes just as an add on to our plumbing jobs its that easy!!
Oh, and if you think thats grafting...we install a full blown central heating system in a 4 bed house
in one day. Everything...and that included the rip out. And...it is to the highest spec and standards required for inspection by independent surveyors...
You made my day...
......................................................................................
Looks like McDonalds here I come......

if he's that busy then 1) why is he selling crap on ebay and 2) how quick did he reply? now thats busy ;D

from his comments he's a typical ebay lout. the ones to avoid, maybe we should chip in and buy 1 then leave the pootttttest feedback possible with the allotted characters ;D

He obviously has no clue about CLEANING carpets, he's just whipping over them.

That's an easy calculation but you have to be a qualified plumber to work it out ;)

Craigp

Better idea; you send him the pics and you to can join our growing troop of monkeys. And if your very good you can join Joe at McDonalds 8)

Alan,

Book her in to come round and do your house, it has to be worth it just for the experience!

I have all the kit and know it takes 10 mins to fill the machine up, vac a 4 bed house at least 1/2 hour. etc etc. God I'm getting wound up here.

Go on Alan, heres my fiver, any body else?

Assuming the machine is full and the hoses connected , no pre  vac or pre spray .

They could easily  spray and suck over a 4 bed house in an hour, the water would be dirty too. so they are in thier rights to claim what they do .   They are full of crap though!
I clean carpets
I dry Buildings

Lads its tempting to have them round but dont think the mrs would be too impressed.I think this outfit is summed up in one word BIB the woman wearing a cleaners BIB cleaning carpets surely wouldnt impress any real life customers i have come across in the last ten years. My portable i had previous to my steamway 9100lx truckmount was the powerflite in blue and with me on the end(quite a big guy) it looked like it could do the business and did this is just silly marketting in my opinion but some people with rentals will use them no doubt.Regards Alan(swindon)
