hi

we've try all sorts of ways to advertise our business including e-mail and in some case have gained some new contracts from it plus Its still the cheapest way of advertising. I agree its classed as spam but if you've tried all other ways to advertise and at the end of it and many pennys later you dont get much in return then the only other way is e-mail.

i don't use facebook, but that doesn't mean it's not an effective way of marketing  :)

i'd class it as spam, but i'd also say it must work, else why is it done? i got some spam the other day but it happened to be about something i was currently looking into doing any way. the spammer was lucky they got me at that exact moment and will most likely be getting some of my money. i think email marketing works in the same way, lots will receive emails they aren't interested in, then you get some who will be wanting exactly what you're offering and it pays off

hi there

how may emails are you thinking of sending in one go ??

you will find that many email servers reject bulk email sends, and bounce them back to you, therefore you need to use an online company such as mojomail, or livewire but there are loads of companies,

you can import your database to your account, and then the system will monitor the unsubscribes, etc.

you can then create a template or a plain text email, select the receipents and then send, some companies charge £5 per campaign and then 1p or 2p per email sent.

if you have a website, then if you have a data capture box, you can then add them to the subscribed list.

ideally you  can have a microsite that acts as a landing page back from the email.

you may also be asked by the companies whether you have permission from the reciepents to receive email marketing.

on a positive note, a lot  of compaies now prefer to receive marketing by email as opposed to hard copy.

My data base comes from the yellow pages or thompson directory  ;D - dont have to pay anything out then.
Do your e-mails one by one and not mass mail - it takes time but worth it.

hi there

i think it really depends how many emails you are sending, i would send out on a monthly basis about 900 therefore individual emails wouldnt be practical.

the great thing about the email systems, is that if people choose the UNSUBSCRIBE then these systems will manage the listing automatically,

these will also tell you how and when the emails were opened, and will also report hard and soft bounces, again so that, the list is cleansed. with soft bounces you can then see if there is a typo in the email address.

Joining this one a little late as I have been trying to get back to the office for several days by any means other than plane.

Email marketing is the most cost and more importantly time effective way selling your services.  Know your target market, build your lists yourselves and send out monthly making sure anyone that unsubscribes never receives anything further - I would also invest a little to make sure the email flier is good graphically if you are not IT genius.  We outsource it and it now costs  £75 each time from our marketing people.

Depending on your offers and I think importantly a really good title line you can expect 5% response easily.

so you send out a "flier" like email rather then an email with text introducing your services? i was under the impression that a written email is the norm as then you don't appear too salesy.

would you be able to send me an email like how you'd send a potential customer? if so email is adam@greencleansolution.co.uk

there is 5 of us at the moment with a 6th person planning to help us out soon, though only 2 of us are full time, and 1 nearly full time. 2 staff work just evenings and if we need their help for one offs. we keep putting out a vacancy on jobcentre site but never end up hiring people as we get "lucky" and have a friend who wants to join and end up going with them, which is good and also bad as we don't have anyone yet to go do only weekly house cleans so don't advertise for it, and we can't have the staff until we advertise for the work.

when do you think we started? i often change my mind which is why i'm asking, and at this moment in time i'd say we started in beginning of September 09 as that's when we really got some money earners in. other times i'll say we started april 17th (my birthday), as that's when we first started planning, or june time as that was first customer.

as for how we're doing, anyone who knows me will say we're doing good for first 8~ months, but i'd say not good enough. we have had so few commercial clients since xmas which i don't like as this is my favourite area as well as the area i feel needs the most experience. I can't really complain as we're earning enough now so i think in 6 months time we'll be earning a really decent amount, 12 months enough to stop cleaning etc, but then maybe that's just wishful thinking :)

how about you? i've seen you post a few times but never remember to watch your progress.

hi there

you can send either a html or plain text email, depending on which service you use, most of the services will allow this facility.

the fact about send a html, based email, with possibly a picture, or two is that pictures say a thousand words. that has always been the case and always will.

try and make life as easy as possible for any potenial client.
