Static setup
« on: April 15, 2010, 08:47:18 am »
I should be recieving my IBC tank and transfer pump today.
I am looking at getting 20metres of lay flat hose and a fuel type trigger nozzle.
Does anyone else use a fuel type trigger nozzle?

Not for filling a van tank, it would be too boring, however if it was to fill barrels it sounds like a good idea.

Simon.

The trigger nozzle I was looking at can deliver 150 litres per minute.
350 litres per minute wouldn't take long to fill  ;D ;D

But what if the pump can only deliver 50 litres per minute?  ;)

MB - Where are you getting the trigger from?

I got this shut off valve at the bottom of the page. http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Submersible_pumps.html

It works a treat and is the same diameter as my pond hose. Stops my water siphoning out when i turn the pump off.

Matt you may want to forget the idea of lay flat hose, i only have about 8ft of it and it jams a fair bit, slowing the flow and hence putting more pressure on the transfer pump.
There is a much better more rigid hose out there on the market, and i'll be dammed if i can think of which supplier supplies it, may WCW

Fuel pump triggers work a treat. It takes roughly 7-8 minutes to fill my 400ltr tank.

Just put it to the lock position and rest it in the hole at the top of the tank, go make cup of tea or sandwich.   ;D

To climb mount fuji you must first find a path

Fuel pump trigger is what i use, got a metal one after breaking the all plastic one. If you look for bio-diesel pump triggers on ebay, there is loads.

I use lay flat, and its gash. By the time its been dragged out the garage, it kinks/creases, punctures quite easy too.

Hi Matt. Pleased to meet you.

Just a tip. Make sure you insulate the hell out of any kit you buy from now on. I shall be spending the summer preparing for winter!! Don't get caught out.

I have a thermometer on my desk in the unit too  ;D
I have to go back today as I need to sort out my transfer pump and hose.
only problem I have is my transfer pump wont fit through the hole at the top!!

Matt just cut a hole out the top mate and lower your tranfer pump to the bottom, to seal my hole back up, i i use a bit of ply and a slightly larger piece of bubble wrap under that, it just sits on top the hole, its enough to keep inscets out and because its not 100% sealed the very tiny gap acts as a breather
