How To Price Domestic Jobs
« on: April 14, 2010, 09:10:40 am »
Just wondering how to price up a domestic clean and how often would it need cleaning?
Im thinking weekly but some may want fortnightly

Im a window cleaner by trade so not really familiar with pricing domestic cleans. Im hoping to sell the domestic cleaning to my origional customers first and then canvass for more as i expand my round.

Would really appreciate your help

Danny

Hi Danny

Here's my breakdown.  Hope it helps.

  Bathrooms (20 mins)
  WCs (10 mins)
  Kitchens (40 mins)
Living Rooms, Bedrooms, etc (20 mins)

These times are for a maintenance clean not the first time you clean it as that can be more like one off clean timings.

You will need to add a bit if they want fortnightly rather than weekly though.

Cheers

Ill let the customer decide then rather than pushing for one or the other.

How many customers would i need for a decent profit?

Sorry for the questions  :)

Hi Danny

Depends how much you want to make and your sales ability I guess, but our average ££ sale is about 3 hours per week so if you work out your net profit per hour then you'll know roughly how many customers you need.

i now make a rule of a min of 4hrs per clean - two cleaners, for 2hrs.

im also a wc company and i find i get alot of domestic work off other cleaning companies as customers arent happy with cleaners trying to clean inside windows, mirrors, pictures and shower doors with a duster.

if you are a wc then im sure you are thinking with all the bad weather i can still get some work done - which is true but it does tie you down to time and dates .....

and you wont earn as much per hour cleaning as you would wc.

I'm not surprise, customers are unhappy. Any company that employes cleaners who use dusters to clean windows mirrors etc and definatelly not worth bothering with.

Thats what im thinking especially after that winter. It would also make my company larger as we would offer more services.

If i do go ahead i would try and sell the service to my origional window cleaning customers to start with. How have you picked your jobs up?

Hi Richy

Our kit is as follows:

Henry & Tools
Cleaning Caddy containing Cleaning Products, bin bags, etc
Washing up Brushes to use as toilet brushes if client doesn't have one
Toothbrush
Feather Duster
Extendable Cobweb Brush
Small Stepladder
Mop Handle & Bucket
Dustpan &  Brush
First Aid Kit
Plus lots of cloths and as many mop heads as clients for that day

You should be looking at charging between £13.50 and £15 per hour in my opinion.

Hope that helps
