this is something i'm not interested in at all but my partner is looking into it and i would like to know your opinion on the matter.

basically she is thinking about offering services that aren't related to cleaning as an add on such as house sitting, shopping, dog walking/sitting.

this is something which appears massively untapped online (possibly for a good reason) as there is so few competition and i think if done correctly it wouldn't be hard for her/us to start offering this service. i know some other domestic cleaning companies do offer more then just cleaning services and hope they'd be able to give their advice with this.

one idea that i have for it is that it would work well with the domestic cleaning side of our business as we are clearly a trusted business to leave in people's houses, with keys etc, and we could offer a spring clean whilst the home owner is away

You seem to be doing lots all in different areas. Possibly buying domestic work, which if legit is a good way to expand.

Now onto other services.

Well, my opinion is that yes you have the ideal market already as they are residential. As you say you already clean their house so they know you.

I think it would work very well. Infact I know it would. I have friends that do this. They earn reasonable amounts. And as an add on service I think it will go together.

My freinds have now expanding and actually have dog cages in there gardens to look after the dogs when people go on holiday. They get alot of bookings.

Your market need to be the more upper class, not the council estate that has had a riot on, i.e. moss side. Try leafleting the posher larger houses.

I think alot will be on for the dog walking and pet side.

Its like anything market it well, and aim at the correct clientel and you should be away.

many thanks for the advice. as mentioned this isn't something i would be involved in myself as my partner is the one with the idea and motivation behind it. i'll help when needed but i'm very aware i have far too much on else where to think about doing this as well as it needs to be done.

I think it's a great idea, and it's something that we will be doing soon as we get into regular residential work. there is definatelly a need out there for this sort of services & i wthing it will work really well. All people want is someone they can rely on at all times. In terms of shopping etc, this sort of service is very popular among older people, i know self employed cleaners who help out elderly people round house and also bring shopping with them everytime they come. It's about offering a service of convinience & thats what people like, if they can afford to pay for it, then thats all that matters.
