I'm going to give SAE a try.

Do you put stamps on or not?

Hmm, only if your prices are really good as you're going to be spending money.

If they're far out areas and they can't be relied upon to send a cheque, then maybe it's a good idea then.

Now for the sarcasm....   If you didn't put a stamp on an SAE, wouldn't it just be an AE?

I have been using sae for 20 years.

I use self seal ones, and have a stamp that prints the following.

Name                                Date

Your bill is £        :             Round   

Made payable to [ your name ]

I lift the flap of envelope and stamp this under the flap, I do about 30 at a time. Then all you have to do is fill in the spaces.

I have never put stamps on and have a 99% return rate.

if it means you are more likely to get the cheque promptly what's 40 pence off the job - plus you can claim it back in tax - and it means you don't have to collect
if i get something in the mail that needs postal reply, the prepaid ones go out the quickest- car insurance etc

 I agree, SAE are the best way I deal with customers who I can never find in after
 the second call or live fair distance. I always add the stamp so as to not offend
 the customer, works a treat have never failed with this.

No SAE here! I just put a slip through the letterbox with the amount and my address on it and my customers provide the cheque, the envelope and the stamp!

Put a stamp on it compared to
the time spent collecting (time has a value)
the fuel used to collect
The wear and tear on your vehicle
the time, fuel and ware and tear used to go back a second time to try and collect.

a Stamp works out a lot cheaper and as mentioned is a tax deductable item.
