HI Angel

to the best of my knowledge - Reach & Wash - is a trade mark for Ionics Systems. So you might be getting into some sticky ground there.

I would also be interested in everyones opinion on this and if Craig from Ionic would like to comment also

what ever you do don't use it as you will get yourself in trouble with ionics as the Reach & Wash logo - is thier trade mark. unless ofcourse you are using one of thier systems then it's OK.

why not try "WATER FED POLE WINDOW CLEANING" that's OK

So if I registered 'Water Fed Pole' as a trade mark, would that mean you lot couldn't use that either?

I've an extremely intelligent mate that works in the patent office (well actually he's Wor Lasses mate - running club buddies (so she tells me)).  I'm sure he knows stuff like this.

I'll ask him.

I don't have an Ionics system but I do use thier poles so does this mean that although I can't use thier logo (I've asked ) can I still use the term "reach and wash" because I am using thier poles to reach the windows and wash them?????

On 'THE OTHER FORUM' this was discussed at length....I think!
Reach and wash belong to Ionics, and they protect this avidly.

Got their poles?

Want to use their logo?

Uh huh, no can do, you need their system, otherwise you could claim to use their logo if you only used one of their brushes!

I think that the term; Water Fed Pole is now to generic to be able to copywrite or patent.
I know nothing about the rules concerning patent or copywrite, but something tells me you couldn't claim this term as your own.

If Craig or Reuben read this thread I am sure they will reply!

Ian

I was looking to copyright an idea for a slogan not w/c related and found that you cannot copyright a phrase
You can seek to register it as a trademark - if you do get that far and I don't know if 'reach and wash' has, then you can legally object to other people using your trademark -
it's called "passing off" where people are creating an impression taken from the originator of the trademark
even then there is no guarantee of successful prosecution :)

there's been some very good points put on this thresd about using the phase reach and wash,

is it possible to own  and copyrite a phase?

perhaps somebody who knows a bit more about such things should look into it?

NOW ITS A GREAT NAME Graig and Rueben,BUT ITS BECAME LIKE HOOVER,every carpet cleaner is called a hoover,if you dont believe me wait till your mrs asks you to get the Hoover, not get the dyson etc etc.

Because its such a good name its lost its product id a little.
