How much would it cost to boil 500 litres of water a day?! How big a kettle have you got?

Quite the opposite. Boiled water will have a higher TDS as the pure water is evaporated away. Think of the water cycle. Sea water is evaporated to clouds and rains nearly pure.

Boiling water doesn't remove the impurities.  You'd have to boil it, channel the vapour and condense it to have pure water.

Not sure I get that, but hay ho.

Tosh, what about boiling the water in a room with a de-humidifier - that could collect the pure water.  Before anyone says about using electric, you could simply have a cauldron-type thing with a log fire underneath to boil off the water.

Just get an ro and di.
Cuts out the need for a fire in the back of the van!

Maybe but at least the van wouldn't freeze in winter  ;D (what was left of it anyway).

The title of this thread shouldn't be 'I think I'm on to something about making pure water '

it should be

'Im on something, and I feel disconnected from reality.'

I haven't tried it yet, but I read that boiling salt removes 80% of the impurities in it.  So what about just boiling tap water, letting it cool down - could this be a better way to make pure water?  Maybe it might have to go in a DI resin bottle after, but might save having an RO?
Does that mean bringing dry salt crystals to boling point ? or bringing salt water to boiling point ? two different things.
Are you trying to get water more pure than an RO/DI set up. I have 20 litres of Pure condednsed water (cooled steam) also distlilled water , if you want me to experiment with it ?
Just trying to help, ignore the negative comments.

Cheapest way would be to source the nearest spring or bore hole then run through di I would have thought.

Even easier is to harvest rainwater.

Sorry mate to tell you. The day you had a sickie from school you missed out on the lesson on condensing and purifying water.

I am bonkers its true, but I also have a habit of being a bit of a humourous fellow.

Lighten up mush, its only a joke. Some people take everything all so seriously.

just thought it was a bit harsh mate

was sticking up for the guy

No, don't boil anything  ???

Rainwater is nearly pure, some spring water supplies are nearly pure. No need to boil.  ???

Hasn't April 1st gone now?
