Paul I think they are trying to be a little more professional, as they have big names on their sponsor boards.
They are in my eyes trying to make it more respectable.

Paul the big sponsors won't sponsor a forum that is run unprofessionally.
I see where your coming from with regards to the numbers game, but Ionics wont sponsor a type of forum that this was slowly becoming.

But what has this thread and the other one got to do with window cleaning? I think these posts are alright but they are missing the point.
There is a section to post this sorta thing
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?board=12.0
This is non window cleaning related banter. Its fun but its got nothing to do with window cleaning. Nothing.
Having this somewhere else won't kill the banter. There's always been banter on here. It just filters the relevance to where it belongs.

Changing names may be ok but if they kill the content they kill the forum. That includes the banter, the humour, the disagreements etc.

If the members don't enjoy it anymore they will leave or drift to other forums, as there are enough about.

Hopefully not but there is a chance that they could shoot themselves in the foot, afterall, it is "the members" that make this place. ;) They pee us off, we leave, simples.

Yeah i do agree.

The quirky, combative, and at times zoo like nature of the forum have defined it's personality for years. It was not slowly becoming anything, the bedlam was already here.

You are undoubtedly right about he who pays the piper calling the tune though, and some will have waited years for this satisfaction.

Remember the old joke?

A mini nips in quick to the parking space the old boy in the roller had been trying to reverse into.
Seeing the other drivers annoyance.
"Hah" Cry's the mini driver" that's cos' i'm young and quick."

Engaging gear and crunching the front end of the mini in the roller guy says.
"And that's because i am old and rich!"

I cant see that this forum can have much of an attraction for advertisers anyway, its not like 150 window cleaners and carpet scrubbers a day visiting a site is a massive market is it.

Dont think Mike can have that much leverage in negotiations with advertisers. Most of the advertising on here is just google code anyway, no big deals going on there, just the same as what a few of us have on our sites anyway.

Its hardly Saatchi and Saatchi.

I agree. Advets are mainly window cleaning products selling to us. Don't think they give a hoot what are nnames are

When I joined, I am sure it said that the username (what you sign in with) would not be shown on the forum, but now it does in my profile which is a bit naughty really.

My other gripe is that I get a bit cautious about giving personal info when joining locked forums that you can not see into until you join, I mean it is either legit, or a scam to get personal info.

Also my understanding.

Hermski what if you are wrong? what if it's personal? The pleasure of the old guy finally squashing the mini?
