Have the directors of C.L.E.A.N Broken the following rule?

This forum should not be used to promote your own products and/or services.

If so should they be Expelled?

Why would you have an agenda for trying to get a person or person's expelled? Wasn't aware the forum had a new moderator.

No agenda just asking a valid question.

I agree with you expro.
Don't seem like too many people want to stick their head
above parapet though.

Hi John.

I agree,

Maybe it's too controversial.

There is also the viewpoint that our industry's forums are there to both educate and inform. A new trade association within our specialist industry, along with it's membership requirements, is a major event and so should quite rightly be debated.

In principal, if this type of debate was censored, there'd be an uproar.

I feel that the moderators here, who have a difficult judgement call to make,  have got the balance about right.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,

Up to a point you have a point BUT in this case I feel that from the beginning of the first thread
about alternatives to the NCCA the members of clean it up have been manipulated by a few
individuals.

it is a bit of a gray area, is CLEAN a 'product' or A  'service'?   I interpreted  'promotion of a service or product' to mean it is done for financial gain, if I thought CLEAN was about creating profit for the directors then I would delete every topic they started, but I don't think it is.

even if they did break the rules. expulsion would be a bit harsh ;)

higher powers than me have surely read the continuous saga of CLEAN  and have see fit to allow it to run so who am I to disagree :)

i don't think they should be banned, there all good contributers to the forum. and its not like the  forum owners are starting up an association so don't see the problem. ive had a lot of help of steve and the others so why would i want them banned. sounds like sour grapes if anyone does.

don't see the problem in promoting anything thats good for the industry as long as it doesn't go against anything that the forum owners are planning / selling / advertising, etc......

bring back kev loomes, he never did ewt wrong either. that software has helped alot of CC's out there, just cos he's making money out of it shouldn't warrent a ban.

thats my 2 penneth anyhoo

Expro, you posted as I was typing :) :)

I disagree with you about manipulation, I don't think anyone has been swayed either for or against by what has been posted by some members. contrary to popular believe most carpet cleaners are not a bunch of thickos who cannot see the real motives behind some post. no matter how much promotion clean gets (or how much slagging off) we can make up our own mind whether it is a good idea.

Mike
I believe it to be both a product and a service.

Are we to believe that the directors will not gain from services [training etc]
I also understand that they are considering launching own label products.
Will the profit from these be given to the membership?

Perhaps someone from C.L.E.A.N would like to comment.

This can either be made easy or complicated. Easy is to just ignore any discussion about CLEAN (starve the oxygen of publicity), complicated is to go on and on and on (no such thing as bad publicity). Doubt it will happen but, CLEAN is a reality, learn to live with it and stop moaning about every little thing. There are plenty who covertly advertise on CIU and no one bat's an eye.

For the record, as Derek posted, I have met Steve and one or two other's from CLEAN. I have no issue with any of the people involved and wish them nothing but success.

As I said earlier I do not have an agenda about clean.
I was only asking a question, and to put the record straight I neither agree nor disagree with clean.

The question is about Clean it up.

I persoanally dont agree with you

promoting something for ones financial gain is against the rules. eg promoting your website business for example. not promoting a new  organisation.

You have made 2 statements that are news to me, can you back that up?
Overall by asking the 3 questions you have now given CLEAN no choice but the right to reply which is something you are trying to stop ::) Make up your mind.

Neil,

This is about rule breaking and not an attempt to stop CLEAN.

But you're asking questions, which if they answer one of them (products) would fall into the trap of promoting something, although as I said is news to me.
