Could you just clarify a little, are you saying your round is worth 150,000 per year?
Or £15,000 per year.
if the former then that is one hell of a big round.
How many does it take to get around it in a month?
No way in this world could that be a one man job...even in the Essex area!!

Now I may not be picking this up right - but you say "earning YOU" 150k- so is that after the five guys working six days have been paid
if not, where does 'lucrative' fit in :-\

I think Andypandy (I wish we used proper names - mine is Tosh) is talking turnover which is very different from profit.

Andypandy

first post does say "earning YOU £150,000 p.a."  Do you mean it will earn me that, when you say "earning you"?

Ye Gods, Methinks we are spliting hairs!
Turnover of 150k, that is a big round, 5 men sounds about right, Rosskesava has I think 3 guys including himself, reckon he would be pretty pleased if he could turn over 150k if he was a 5 man outfit.

Don't we all like the way Gould-y-locks flounces in with his pithy comments? (I did say Pithy didn't I ;))

Yup, not enough info to back up that sort of claim.

Ian, explain "pithy" for us less eloquent members.(he says, using words like eloquent!)

Is pithy something Tosh gets with Graham? ;D

Roger.

You got it Rog, It's late and I think Graham is in freefall, as for pithy....terse, condensed, to the point, concise, curt, brief...Brief! thats the one, well in Grahams case anyway!

Ian (wondering what will have to be deleted in the morning)

I would disagree, 5 men averaging 30k per person per year, thats very good going, and I would think some damnn good prices too.
The logistics of running a business with 5 workers is high, particularly one so labour intensive as window cleaning.
Most of us are one man outfits, a team of 5 is big (relative).

How many window cleaners do you know who are VAT registered? :-\

If it was your business, and you had 5 working for you, what would you be paying them? Probably less than 15k per year per person, and if you were one of that 5 then your income would be higher again.
I know there are going to be things such as Employers liability, Employers NI and many other overheads to consider, but if the business is the real thing, it would certainly give a good return at the end of the day.

Mind how you go,

Your talking £90 per day per man, thats not a lot to achieve.

But when you go paye you have national insurane also holiday pay and dont forget sick pay.

And on top of that employers liabilty and public liabilty. You will be very very lucky to earn a £100 per week, out of someone working with you. As I have looked at it, it is not viable.

Roy :)

Roy, where do you get £90 per day ???
On a 5 day week I make that £115 per day, and that would be if they work every week of the year without break.
And that must be what they average, take off holidays and so and they are doing ok.
The odds are they at least work in pairs, or maybe more.
The more that you have working together the less effecient you become as a unit.

It would be very interesting to learn a lot more about this business wouldn't it? !!!

You don't need to be an employer, you can register as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) all registering as self employed

Has it's advantages, no sick pay, no employers liability & no holiday pay

Without too much time analysing costs etc, paying out 50% in wages, with minimal overheads, I would think you are still going to make at least 30% profit. Even more if you work it yourself

The asking price ? though might be a problem, can't imagine any 1 being able to shell out 3 to 4 times the clean (£50,000)!! Not a bad return on investment if you can afford it
