CRB - what umbrella agency to use?
« on: March 19, 2010, 01:40:02 pm »
hello guys

I am looking at getting a basic crb check done to enable a family member to do some domestic cleaning for us, can anyone recommend an umbrella company to use to get this organised?

Thanks very much for any help

we use proCRB as they are the cheapest i could find.

i wondered if anyone knows if it would be legal to join up with someone like a local guides/scouts type place that would take my new staff on as volunteers and then do my staff crb checks free of charge (volunteer crb checks are free afaik), and then i can send cleaners to the guides/scouts to do a couple hours each of free cleaning for them? not sure how legal this would be and if even if the crb would be usable as they'd be applying for a different role

If you weight up the cost of paying staff to do the free cleans for the scouts or similar. Surely it would be cheaper just to pay for the CRB checks in the first place

£43.15 is cheapest i have seen for enhanced check, and £33 for standard. a couple of hours of staff cleaning is approx £17 so much cheaper.

So your saying you'll offer them a couple of hours free cleaning and in exchange they do the CRB checks?

Unless i've got this wrong..i doubt if there getting a good deal  :)

volunteer crb checks are free afaik, so they'd get a good deal if we were regularily sending a group of cleaners in to do a big clean, i.e they have a clean every 6 months with however many hours they have "earnt" from doing the crb checks. just an idea of course and i don't know if it's allowed as the check would be for a volunteer role then used for a cleaning position.

Greenclean,

I dont personally think this is any good. I also dont think its professional at all.

We pay for our staff to be CRB checked and Enhanced checked it costs us £63.00 many staff, all checked every 2 years.

Factor it in as part of your overheads.
