The public are strange
« on: July 13, 2005, 11:21:45 pm »
Had an enquiry today. She wanted her carpets cleaning NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!. I said is Monday ok? She said no !!!!!! now today ( this was 1.00pm ). I said ok....how about Saturday morning? Noooooo I want them done today. When she realised it wasnt possible she was quite confused with this concept and put out by the fact. Are there some strange people about or what?  lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

similar sort of thing  a while ago - lady phones up:
" I need to meet you at 1pm sharp tomorrow at my house to discuss the cleaning of my carpets".

I replied that i was unable to make that particular time to which she said " Why not! What on earth are you doing?". I explained that i was booked all day to clean carpets. So she said " Well when can you meet me then?" I replied "Saturday 1pm SHARP"!

But there are CC's that can do business like this - can't comment on how good they are etc.

Got a message to ring a lady to quote on a suite.  Was on a job at the time so it was about an hour before I rings back.

You're too late she say's, somebody else has just finished the job    :o :o :o.

Perhaps we're all doing it wrong   :)

I had a provisional booking from a lady to clean her flat carpets, discussed what time to meet so she could get off to work, what to do with the key when finished etc etc, promised she would call to confirm...fair enuff i thought...got closer to the appointment no call so i rang her,on her work number as that was all i had,4 phone call's later and still they hadn't heard of her ! so i got the missus on the case, the mysterious lucy finally surfaced..."no wasn't me" any other lucy's there asked my missus,"oh ok it was me but i was just phoning around and i've had them done already by ..........." .
i wouldn't mind a straight answer,i just didn't want a wasted trip at 7.30 in the morning i have enough work not to worry about one poxy job !

anyway i have now decided to take more details and i will be the one phoning to confirm in future..or i might just let the missus scare em into using me !

This is the reason that you should visit your prospect to see that they are for real and decide if YOU want to do work for them!!

It certainly weeds out the price shoppers.

Plus you will get a better price for your work.

Sending me for a MRI scan, can hardly walk today, so if anybody wants to buy a T/M and full kit, get in touch, I'll have to retire from Carpet Cleaning can no longer manage it.
I get better looking each day!!

Hi Guys,

Had an enquiry on Tuesday

' Can you clean a 16 by 10 carpet this week , it will only take 15 minutes' :o

I asked if she was an old customer and she said no but the last guy did it in 15 mins.

When I said it would take that long to set up the machine she put the phone down on me :'(

Now I know some of you TM guys are pretty quick but 15 mins?

Cheers,

Doug

Often have calls like that even with exciting customer, my reply put me on a retainer say £25k per annum, and I would be there yesterday. ;D

Had a call this afternoon... lady wanted a lounge carpet cleaning approximately thirty square yards.

I asked a few questions and deduced there was every likelihood that the carpet was a natural fibre variety i.e Coir, Seagrass etc.
I explained that I needed to see that carpet to see how it could be cleaned. She made it very clear that she didn't want me out to view and asked what sort of price would be involved. I gave a ballpark figure (in the region of) subject to seeing the carpet and she replied that she had a very much lower price ...

I thanked her....as Yoda would say "fly on the wall wish I was"

One time I had a lady ring at midday Christmas Eve wanted it done then.
But your advert said ring now and have your carpet cleaned for Christmas.
Advert was in 1st week Nov.

I'm sure that everyone who goes self-employed has the get up and go spirit, either that or they're unemployable like me ;D

Just curious Ron but what would you have done if you were fully booked? You seem to make the assumption (dangerous thing) that everyone else who has posted on this thread has  the time available.

I wish that my solicitor, dentist, doctor, barmaid would serve me the moment I wanted.
