I know Mark uses this to great effect but you do have to get plenty of leaflets out there to make it work.

I never put prices on my leaflets.  I did a leaflet drop a couple of weeks back and a lady rang me and told me that I didn't have any prices printed on the leaflet that she'd had through her door.  I told her that I always prefer to quote each job separately so that the free, no obligation quote I provide will be the price the customer pays.  Oh, okay she said and she didn't ask me for a quote!  Work that one out!

Think it will cut out the time wasters and price shoppers as mark said.

Depends on how much time you have to filter them out..

When a lot of you say it cuts out 'price shoppers' I have never understood that attitude.

Ok I agree I hate people who just want to pay the lowest price but the one thing I want above anything is that phone to be ringing constantly. This way when someone rings up you can use your sales skills to close a deal. If the phone doesnt ring you cant even try and do that. I would much rather the phone ring than not at all.

Unless the price is sooooooo cheap some people you can never turn around but its all about getting that phone to ring and educating the prospective customer about the dangers of splash and dash cowboys and paying that little bit more to get them done professionally with you!

There are price shoppers and price shoppers. Its fine when someone calls for a a price and you have a chance to close a deal. But there are some who call several times on your 0800 number trying to start a Dutch auction.

They are a pain.

I tried price on leaflet for first time does not apear to work but I have not abandoded experiment yet

Problem with carpet cleaning unless you are a bait and switch merchant we do not have a product they would not buy like a sofa that over fills the room or a blind in a yuky colour  to use as our attention grabber

I think Free Room

!0% off  or Free Potector do not mea much as there is no standard price .

In other industries computers  sofa etc all major suppliers  apear to have same starting price  its not very often a sofa advert says £200 they are usually promoted at £400 to £500 as headline grabbers

Wheas Carpet Cleaning varies from £1.50 to £6.00 a metre

showing prices i think can work if it's done well with showing off your services and why you charge that amount. just putting a "high" number and what you do i don't think is enough as a customer will see no reason to spend more on you then on someone else if from the leaflet it looks like you do the exact same thing.

if the phone rings here in the states, we can call out to that person for the next 18 months even if they are on the Do Not Call Registry.  That's part of what makes Joe Polish's program work.

Interesting point from the US ..........which suggests they use telesales for carpet cleaning prospecting. Don't think anyone's ever tried it in the UK.
