Help with modifying 5ltr sprayer
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:50:23 pm »
I'm looking to extend the hose and connect to a Harris pole.  Question.  Is it best to try and diconnect the hose supplied to canister and nozzle, then re attached own hose at greater length, or best to cut the hose supplied and add connector fitting to add on new longer middle hose part?

The hose seems pressue sealed on to canister and nozzle and I'm worried that I may not be able to simply connect my longer hose to these parts if I removed the supplied and connected hose.

Any thoughts and asdvice from those that have done this.

Cheers

Is it a hoselock sprayer? They are held on with a screw fitting. If it is moulded onto the sprayer, then use a hose repairer from your local hydraulic hose supplier to connect the sprayer hose to your hose.
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.

It's not a hose lock but this one

https://www.heritage-homeandgarden.co.uk/product_info.php?language=en&products_id=6540

I'm not too sure if its a very tight fit that I could remove after soaking in hot wayer but didn't want to force it in case I broke it!!

I'm not too sure what a hose repairer is??  Can you show me a picture form on line store??

Isn;'t there a connector gardiners / cleantech etc sell that connects these hoses??

Sorry for all questions but never done this before and worried I'm going to make a mess of this

just cut the hose and fit a hozelock connection, you might need to make the hose bigger with a hose fitting to up the size

It doesn't look like it is moulded as part of the sprayer. It looks like a threaded fitting.

The gardiner's fitting is exactly what you need. If your 2 hoses are different inside diameters, then just get the bore adaptors to suit.

This is a better picture of what a hose repairer looks like.

I'm going to tie wrap it to the end of my Harris pole and use it to spray TFR on to tops when required.  It's been done by many on here and seems to work well but need a bit of advise as to how to sort out hose issue.

Did you get 5mm internal diamter or 5mm outer diamter.  It looks as though I need 5/6mm internal diamter.

bought a tank like this from lidl some time ago. I cut the hose they had on there and fitted a fitting from Halfords they have a  different sizes. They are black loch fittings for cars, In the top I used the nozzle from the kit and cut the copper tube and put in a 5 ml id tubing I use on the poles from Home base this nozzle I fasten to my pole with a Velcro straps I got from Mapland next door.

Is this the sprayer?

I think that you might find that you can simply remove the yellow pipe and replace it with a length of tubing. Like in this picture.

I did something similar using a similar spray wand.

The end result was this:
