Wasting resin
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:00:41 am »
When I check my tds readings and they are 0.01 I change the resin, but when I open the di container half the resin looks dark and the other half looks in good condition, even though I throw it all away. But it seems a waste of resin. Any tips greatly appreciated as I seem to be changing my 200 gpd resin every week.
Steve.

Every week I take the DI Vessel and give it a very good shack for 5mins, then put back on, it will always go back to 000

Double your di up. Ive done that and i change mine once a month (300gpd).

Start off with one cartridge, when it starts rising (i go to 005ppm) you put the second cartridge with the new resin between your first and water storage.

I changed mine over the other week and im not expecting to do it again now till mid April.

The shake method works too, but my system is all hooked together with bolts, so i found that a pain in the ass to do myself.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

Run two vessels. When your first gets to 001 add another with new resin. When the new one goes to 001 put new resin in the old one and have that as the last vessel. (Makes sense in my head!)
You will get more from your resin this way.

Definately run 2 vessels, it will last more than twice as long, as the old resin in the first vessel is still filtering so the second vessel is only filtering from 001-005 etc.

Also when you empty the resin when using 2 you can clearly see it's f***ed
