Cement Splashes
« on: March 09, 2010, 02:32:55 pm »
I have a few windows to do next week that have some splashes of cement from new wall rendering. Does anybody use some sort of attachment that fits onto the end of a wfp to scrape them off?

Or maybe some ideas on how to adapt something for the job.
The pen is mightier than the sword (and a lot easier to write with!)

I would be very careful with this problem. Before you start get a 'scratched glass' waiver from the builder or property owner.

The cement should have been removed by whoever put it there. As you are left with the job it would be better done by hand so explore that way first. Is the scaffold still up? Could the rendering guys be compelled to get the rendering off the glass?

Any bits of rendering left on the glass will scratch it with WFP. At least speak to the property owner about it first.

nor would i, if you are going to do it it wants to be really soapy water with a scraper and scrape in 1 motion not backwards and forwards and get a scratch waiver signed..

You can buy a cement acid cleaning fluid from most builders merchants.

as paul said brand new scraper blade, wet glass and one pass with scraper (no backwards and forwards over same area) and wipe scraper blade after each pass
Thanks,

These are 2 I got from somewhere after I scratched 4 hugh patio doors.
It is really for heat treated glass but it can be adopted for use with builders debris just send it to whoever hires you.
