Hi there,

I've been using 5 x 6 foot aircraft aluminium poles with jubilee clips for the past 2 years but I'm looking at getting a couple of new sets, to clean up to 30' in height.

Any advice on what is the best type to get? Glass fibre, carbon, etc. I don't want anything too bendy and i need it to fit in the back of a swb transit. Something a bit easier than jubilees would be good too.

the best pole, imo, that you want with short sections, rigid and light, is the slx from gardinerpolesystems. the only down side to this is, compared to your aluminium pole, is that carbon will wear more,

Fibre glass very wipie so not what you want. One needs to find out how heigh you work and the nature of your work.

Mostly residential ground and second floors - i have a pole that goes up to 45' which i can use, but most jobs are done on 18' at the moment.

Never used the full 45' - have up to 30' in the van but only attach the extra 2 lengths of 6' as and when required. We do the odd 3 storey.

I would recommend the slx you won't find a pole that feels as light and rigid and if you look after it then it will last.  Mines a few months off of 2 years and still has plenty of life left in it.

The hydra alloy from what I've heard are good poles, well worth the money and lighter and more rigid than comparative glass fibre.  I would say if your getting a pole for staff that might abuse it then get a hydra, if it's for you and your going to loo after it then get an slx.

Could I ask what size are your poles and do you know the closed length including brush head and goose neck/plastic angle adapter ?

SLX every time.- I've got an SLX 30 and it is fantastic (after having Unger aluminium whippiness and fishing pole light but fragile modulars).

A mate has just got an SLX 44 on my recommendation - still waiting for my pint of fine ale from Gardiners  -  which he reckons is superb.

cant beat the brodex hydra for value. i have just bought two 24ft ones for 206 notes, cant complain as they r a cracking pole
