for crap like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HOW-TO-START-RUN-A-WINDOW-CLEANING-BUSINESS-WEBSITE_W0QQitemZ120533452843QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item1c105a882b

Cor, imagine what you could earn full time!

Then have a look around at some of the van systems up for sale particularly the expensive Ironics type set ups.

Is it right to widely publish potential earnings true or false? Omnipole are great for earnings bragging too.

Then you look at the vans where people obviously can't make the money so are selling up.

Think I'll start the "drilling two holes business" next. Will I need such a big van?

I bought it a couple of years ago. It contains some useful info for a complete newbie as I was then.

Sure when you know it all, it appears to be rubbish, but it was a good fiver's worth to me.

It's not the book that makes me angry, it's the £40,000 earnings brag working part time that really gets me.
Then the £60,000 earnings polishing cars plus all the others.

its disturbing the  ammount of set ups that have been sold lately. the same story each time, under a year old paid loads sold for half. you know its somones redundency pay they have just lost. the braggers have made it sound like the streets are paved with gold

the key phrase is " small ammount of business available" if it is his redundency then i feel so sorry for them. people are jumping in 2 footed spending all that cash then thinking about gtting work.
when i started i hired a van drove round for a day getting work to start with. then i spend some money on a van and basic kit. i knew i had something to build on from there.

Or maybe this one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Window-Cleaning-Van-Pole-Wash-Ionic-Thermo-Pure-System_W0QQitemZ330405984187QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Commercial_Trucks?hash=item4cedbb37bb#ht_500wt_1182

from the ad

IONIC REACH WASH IS THE BEST POLE WASH SYSTEM ON THE MARKET AND MOST EXPENSIVE. THE VAN HAS ALSO BEEN SPEEDLINED BY IONIC (NO DO IT YOURSELF DODGY PAINTED FLOOR).

Hmmmmmmm i would prefere a dodgy painted floor AND work, rather than a speedlined floor and no work  ::) ::)

definatly the way things have gone.
i spent more therefore i am a better window cleaner than you.
looking down their noses at home build. its a tank a pump and a pole, hardly rocket science is it.
"i got a new van the saleman talked me into a top of the range system, i cant use a squegee, i have no work and i am on here asking for help pricing a semi detached house".
but then who do we blame. if you lost your job and had a family to keep safe the sales pitch and bragging onhere could make you think this is easy money.  i think the winter has shown that to be untrue.
look at the people who where bleating at losing work in the snow, mostly new people with big investments, none of the old brigade said much because we have seen it before.
we progessed up through the trade and learnt valuable lessons along the way, some on here will not listen to advice as the have spent loads.
now i am not anti newbie we all had to start somewhere and i have learnt from new people as they see the trade through new eyes and we may have become slighlty blind to new thinking.
the round for sale on here at the moment is a prime example, we window cleaners know its priced too high, we would not pay that much, we know that with some leg work we could build a round to match it,  but to some one now unemployed the investment could seem like a way to keep his family solvent.
now good luck to the bloke if he gets the cash, ok he seems like an arogant nob, but even more luck to the newbie who buys it he is going to have to learn quick to keep the custies happy or he will lose a lot of his investment.
newbis beware the are people out there trying to take your money, this is the use of forums people will advice you what is good and bad. salesmen and ebay ebooks are just after your cash

there is a lad near me who spent 16 grand on his system and van last year its a lwb high roof tranny,  good luck to them, i think a lot do it then make money and realise that all the money they are maing is going on paying for there system and new van, and nothing left to pay a wage

i got a book from the british window cleaning academy and there business plan insidre says that you should be making a 1000 a week by week 21 and by week 9 you should be a break even point, as you will of been paying your self 500 a week since the start

there business plan works of getting 225 a week worth of new business  (its only 3 £15 a day should be easy)  it even says  " in practise most new wc gain many moe than this, and hence reach the break even point sooner"   if newbie are reading this then they think its the worlds easist job and blow all there money on it

Beats me. :)
