I would appreciate some advice from WFP users
« on: February 22, 2010, 08:41:12 am »
Hi,Guys

I would appreciate some advice from WFP users.  Have been trad. windowcleaner along with my father-in-law for six years.  He is now retired and as I am on my own I am considering buying a WFP system for safety reasons.

As most of my business is domestic I will use the system for first floor windows only, will clean ground floor trad.

A 250 ltr. system would be enough for my business.  I use a year 2003 Berlingo 600 1.9 diesel van.  I have been looking at two RO systems on ebay both are 250 ltr. van or trailer mount.  One by Pure Freedom WFP supplies price £729, the other by Cleaning Warehouse Company Limited price £679.  I will probably use a flat tank.

Does anyone have one of these systems fitted in a Berlingo van and would it be possible to fit it myself?   I am not sure which Company to buy from.

Many thanks

Dessie

Welcome focuscoleraine.

I don't - I have a self build wfp 400L in a Doblo (which is a bit bigger than a berlingo) but I know a guy running a 400L in a Berlingo. It's tight but he has his poles on the roof. I also did the change over from trad. to wfp about four or five years ago and have worked from an estate car, used a trolley and a backpack before settling (predominantly) on all wfp from a van just over three years ago.

I'd say a 250 is about right for a Berlingo 600 - maybe stretch to 300L with a bigger tank or a couple of barrels; especially if you intend to keep your trad. gear and a ladder for gates too.

Both companies you mention have good reputations.

If you're not in a rush wait for matt or jeff brimble to come along as they will give you some good ideas.
It's a game of three halves!

I have a 250l flat tank fitted in a P Partner 600 and its great. I fitted mine myself but in retrospect next time I would just pay out because the time it took it wasn't worth it.

Would prefer an upright tank as you may have trouble pumping water from flat when it gets low.

You may choose in time to do ground floor windows wfp too as it should be quicker.

IMO a hassle to set up hose and pole to clean first floor, pack it away, get out trad gear then go round again for downstairs.

I have a 300 litre tank in a partner 600.

I'm no diy expert but I managed to fit it myself.

I use an upright tank, and had no problems in the 2 years I've been using it.

Started off doing first floor only but you soon realise its better to do as much as possible wfp.

I'd allways go down diy route, just takes a bit of planning and time, and of course saves money.

A flat tank is better because it keeps the weight distribution nice and low. Everybody starts with the idea that they are going to WFP the tops and trad the bottoms, usually that idea lasts about a week.

I have a purefreedom 350litre upright tank in my Escort van, I have a 500GPD RO.

Setting up took me about 4 hours to fit, I fitted some rafters in the back of the van to hold my poles.

I also have some trad gear in the back too.

like previously said, once you get the hang of WFP you will be WFPing every window.

Get a 500L+ tank. You will be quicker with wfp and will eventualy stop doing trad even on bungalows. 500L will run 1 pole all day. It's better and safer to go out in 2s so that needs 800L+.

400 litre lay flat in my Berlingo and the SLX fits in the back a treat. Had a 500 ltr originally but full up it was too heavy.

That's all very well formb but not in a berlingo 600!
