I'm thinking about buying a gutter vac as I have a few customers very interested if I do so I should do ok.

There's not a lot of choice though,can anyone give me any tips?

A wireless camera seems to be one good idea.

Omnivac supply the most powerful and the most expensive.
Polarvak supply the cheaper more suited to domestic properties.
Ionics supply the petrol upkeeper which seems unpopular for some reason.
Brodex do one but the pics of it didn't look very inspiring imo.


Polarvak (if it's spelt right) uses your wfp to get the vacuum hose up there.

done a gutter job yesterday and there is not a chanc ein hell the vac would have removed it. It was almost welded into the gutters and also the overlap on the tiles meant hardly any access to the gutter. Looked a simple job  but wasn't really. The Vac will have its plac ei believe though

Did a gutter clean yesterday off ladder. All the crap was frozen so I could pull it out in long lengths without even getting dirty. £100 for 1 + 3/4 hours!

You need a spike to break it into smaller pieces and a narrower end pipe to allow for the overlap.

i have a scraper and different attachments to get in to the gutters,wouldnt waste my time or breath climbing up ladders.

Polarvaks come with different attachments for different overlays on the gutters, plus you can buy an agitator to loosen the debris prior to vaccing.

i have 4 attachments for different uses,the agitator is excellent,i done mine,pushed all the dirt to the end and then vacced out,jobs a good one,took me 5 minutes to do 10 metres of guttering.

craig did ye ever find stocks of those blue  attachemtns which can be bent into shape? i can't remember the actual name of them. We used to use them in a factory i worked in for controlling air flow and wate rflow in one of our processes

No i never did, they seem a good idea.

One good sussestion was a wireless camera.( I think the omnipole one is wired) anyone tried wireless? if so where did you buy from?

I got a 7 inch screen and a infrared wireless camera for £49 delivered off ebay,ive just to go to maplin to get a few bits.
anymore advice just ask m8.
 I also got my gutter muncher from a company called eastern trading,i got the vac for £280 with 15 metres of hose.

 I paid £280 delivered with 15 metres of hose and it has been excellent.

Polarbrite sell some great attachments at very good prices too and then you have a very good set up.

Als look on acs cleaning forums because they have a gutter cleaning board,very helpfull.

hi cleewindows,i just had a look at the vac on ebay,it looks good i am tempted to get one could you tell me if you use a generator to run it, if you have picked up much work since you got it and what is the maximum height you have used it at i have a few pound to spend and am undecided wether to buy a diy guttervac or spend it on advertising/website,etc and would appreciate your advice-thanks

Had three gutter cleans in a row this morning with the vac. All pine needles and moss. To be honest I could have done it in quarter of the time off a ladder.
Vacs can be really really crap on some jobs.
