There's loads of things, some of which have been mentioned, but try these.........

Get rid of the nose-rings, tongue-rings, ear-rings.

Supply your home address on flyers/cards/invoices/receipts, plus a landline number, [in addition to the ubiquitous mobile number].

Fifty per cent of those on this list need either to learn to spoll correctly, or at least get someone who can, to check all your written and printed matter before dumping it on a hapless public.
Also include that which is printed by professionals - they are not always up to scrotch.

If you have arranged to be at an address at a particular time, then BE THERE!

Remember. Just as people spread the good word about you to their friends, then so they spread the bad.

Dont ask the customer what the other window cleaner charged and then say you will do it for less.

Most of your customers will be women and they form an opinion of you based very much on first impressions.

Therefore you need to see yourself through their eyes. Uniforms or at least clean overalls make much more impression than anything else.

Also, people reall appreciate politeness. Its so easy but so often forgotten.

Hi Baldeagle
I am the worst at spelling on this forum. But I must add that I know how to spell the word SPELL.

Do knock before you start esp with ladders - a lot of householders don't like the sudden clash of ladders and a grinning face at the bedroom window

When you're finished, don't wheelspin the van away, leaning out of the window, laughing like a pirate and waving twenty pound notes at the customer - it smacks of disrespect ;)

Most of all, in my opinion:

Be Honest; if you miss a window then admit it and put it right.
If you accidently break something tell the customer and replace the damaged item.

Not Perfect - But Honest

If you ever go on a new building site looking for work, wear a hard hat. It impresses the site foreman no end. Dai
