« on: January 29, 2010, 05:13:33 pm »
Hi all

Does anybody here have credit card machine or  online payment option so your customer can by card?
Do you charge your customers percentage that you are charged, normally 2-4%

I have a terminal - you only pay a % with credit card payments, with debit cards its 29p. Its better to have the money and swallow the charge than wait for your money. I got mine through the FSB because they were the cheapest by far ! Its a static terminal at home and I just tell the customers they have to ring HQ and the missus keys it in - EASY its in your account in about 3 days

HI BDCS,

Do you not have line rental as well? Like £15 - 20 per month etc

Paypal? Just send them an invoice via Paypal and they can pay you online using a card - fees are the same (more or less) as most merchant accounts so unless you need a manual terminal thats what I would do as there is no set up and no monthly fees bar the transaction fees.

Yes the terminal rental is £15 - the mobile one was £40 but that would be grief on a jetting van with the damp. I would'nt think paypal to be a professional service myself

It's not only iphone any smart phone will do.

There are plenty phones out at the moment, blackberry, HTC, Nokia just to name a few, the iphone has the most choice of Apps.

I am setting up one soon. I am not sure who to choose as yet I am going for the cheapest.

One of the most popular is Intuit GoPayment from the company that makes Quickbooks, google it and check out the company.

Also Check out:

MobilePOS - from Adelante http://www.adelante.co.uk/mobilepos.html (need a merchant account - I am waiting on them to tell me if it can link with PayPal as the merchant.)

Always check the Setup Fees, Annual Charges and cost per transaction, oh and the minimum trade value per month.
