General cleaning advice please
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:04:32 pm »
Ive a sheltered housing scheme I clean carpets for but they have asked me to clean a kitchen and bathroom in one of the flats.  I hope its only a one off and a last minute thing to boot.

Its a 10x8 kitchen with only the cupboards and surfaces need cleaning.  Bathroom is toilet, bath, tiles, sink.  It is dirty to be fair.

So how does one charge for this type of work as Im assuming its going to be a lot less per hour than carpet cleaning although with less overheads.

What does the big cleaning contractors charge per hour for this type of cleaning.

thanks
Mark

PS. I run a carpet cleaning business hence the lack of knowledge on this subject.

You'd be better off working the carpet machine and suggest your missus would like to do the kitchen work. I have a lady that does this sort of job for me - she likes cleaning  :o You will get allsorts of answers on the price but I'd say its 2-3 hours work and I charge £12.50/hour

Belfast and I was thinking £25 per hour min.  At £12.50 Id be losing money.

Maybe i should pass it on.

Hi mark our top price is about £14p/h and most companies that deal with smaller jobs range from as low as £9.50 up to £17.50 so £25 p/h is pretty high but you could quote that as your price and see if they go for it .
If its just a general clean though and  not a deep clean subbing it  to a local might be best.

I would charge it at minimum 4 hours = £60.  We've done loads of eot cleans and usually I'd charge at least 3 hours for a kitchen and 2 for a bathroom.  Trust me, kitchens and bathrooms can take ages!

Cheers

I agree with Diane
3 hours kitchen
2 hours bathroom
if they want the oven cleaned add 1-1.5 hrs
x £15-£20 per hour.
Dont give them the hourly rate give the price as the total figure.

I agree with Diane, we would charge that type of work out at around £60-£70 and not as an hourly rate, as a company that has done hundreds of end of tenancy type cleans both kitchens and bathrooms can be deceptive and I would advise the use of correct chemicals and techniques for faster and professional results.
