Building a round

Hi Fella's ... my first post here (read hundreds though)

Starting my w/c business in March and just wondering how long it will take to build up to about 200 customers.

Planning to leaflet drop then knock 2 days later.

I know everyone will be different in how long they took to build a round but just trying to get an idea .... cheers Ian

Depends how much you work at it really.  You could get 200 customers in a couple of months if you apply yourself.  However, getting 200 who are well priced,  never mess you about, pay promptly etc. may take rather longer.  There will always be a percentage of messers so you will probably find that once you've got your 200, you will have a "to be dumped when no longer needed" list that may consist of as much as 20% of them.

Believe me when I say this you will get there in the end.

Just keep plugging away, it will happen and you will get a few that mess you about but the majority you get will be fine.

However I do find that it is better to just put professionallooking cards through the doors and if you are good a lot of customers from word of mouth.

I have never in the 2 years of working in the industry had to knock on doors for the cutomers.

£15 average x 200 thats the sort of figures I am aiming for.

Nice website .... how do you find the brodex system as thinking going WFP asap.

Good advice.I've not knocked on many doors either,prefering to rely on leaflets and word of mouth.Keep your eyes peeled for new builds and get in quick when people move in.They're going up all the time around my way.In a block of 8 new flats I picked up 6 in one go last week.Even at only £7.50 a flat it's a good earner for an hours work.

it depends if you are going for the big houses or the run of the mill. obviously the cream is hard to get .ive been going only in my second year , ive no cream yet !  what i did was  leaflet and door knock every single day  and ticked each day off on a calendar so i didnt start slacking  and  you should find youve at least 100 decent customers by autumn. i found out in the early days what the big tradfirm was charging in my area and just came in a pound or so cheaper .

I would canvass not drop leaflets you are covering the same area twice do a call sheet when cavassing then you will cover the whole area the people that call you from leaflets will ask for a quote any way

No offence but the fact that you don't knock on doors is maybe why you are stuck on 200 customers.
The pen is mightier than the sword (and a lot easier to write with!)

Leaflet every day!!!!!
At least 250, 500 if you can! Every day after you have finished cleaning.
Leaflet every surrounding house around each new customer after you have cleaned.
I have done this for exactly 6 weeks and have just short of 150 customers all within 2 mile circle all well priced.
I am just going to be doing the same for the next 6 weeks.
Its just a matter of doing the numbers.
Lots of windys in the area too but theres plenty to go around.
Just never undercutt.

hello ian i started out in january using wfp 650ltr plus van etc.............i currently have 76 customers and am building ....in between cleans, mainly i canvas at weekends and on average for about 2/3 hrs each day and then clean as soon as possible after getting them, i aim to be up to 200 by april /may time as i think when the weather picks up and it stays lighter for longer it will snow ball faster................my advice would be stick at it expect loads and loads of knockbacks,be polite all of the time,be and look professional,be clean and smart and make sure you spend plenty of time on your first cleans ,,,,i am now finding my second cleans far easier........good luck and all the best
