ian what is the answer to such a question ??? other than keep it clean look after it , bit like trigger, LOOK AFTER YER BROOM ;D i just keep mine hung up .dont let the tubes slide down fast and knock the clamps  below , i put tape just before the stops , try not to get gritt or stuff on the pole if you can help it . only weare faster , do not over tighten the screws on the clamps this also can damage the pole .

yes i know i think its a case of you get what you pay for.
on mine if the sliders get a bit gritty i just wipe it down , sometimes the clamps do get lose so i tighten them up , never leave the brush lent up a wall with the bristals on the brick work .
ive got mine in  gutter down pipes fixed in the roof of my van, stops them rolling about when driveing.
i would not use lube on mine .

Not that i do it myself i'm lazy, but for telescopic poles fully extend and wipe down with cloth get all dirt off then a quick blast with silicone spray.

this keeps pole nice and slip slidey.

for brushes i 've heard some say they soke in bucket of pure water and dash of gg3.

if it's mono-filament brush, which imo is best they do not trap dirt particles so shouldn't need cleaning.
