I want a complete overhaul.
« on: January 13, 2010, 12:15:10 am »
first of all, can i quickly explain how i am set up.?

Garden tap at the back of my house,

leads to an inlet to my Ro-man...

which is in my van, neatly attached to the side of the van.

with a 650 litre tank, pump, varistream and a fixed 100m microbore hose and reel,

i have 6 black soil pipes attached to the ceiling of the van for my poles.

a 110 leisure battery fixed, and charged via relay.

Ok,

but im not happy............

i have a garage, but i cant put my ro unit in there...(our lass)

i want a tank always full somewhere, so i can heat it up and transfer it (the water)

i want my ro man nice and warm, but not in the garage.

i am fed up of messing around in the dark on cold nights outside in the van,
putting heaters in, making sure i GUESS the time so my tank does not overflow in the morning.

Someone on here posted , in the good old days when they used a RO SYSTEM...

That got me thinking.

But my problem is, i live in a nice detached house, and we last summer had the garden and decking done, with fancy light and deck ropes etc... got rid of all my garbage in a nice purpose built shed , tucked away around the other side of the house.(which is also full of garden stuff and i cant move in there)

and our lass thinks it would be an eyesore if anything of mine ruined the view.....!!!

so i am trapped in my van...

take the mick lads please... but help me lol. ;D

Maybe you could try standing up for yourself and asserting your masculinity to your 'Our Lass'?

I moved mine to the end of my garden partially hidden behind a tree. But my garden is only 60 foot long.
But the transfer pump will still fill my 650l tank in about 10 mins. even though the water goes through about 140 ft of 40mm pipe. The pipe runs under the lawn and along the bottom of the fence (not pretty but not too bad)

So my point is the tank can be a good distance from where the water ends up

Don't know if that helps...

Very easy solution that would solve all your problems....put it all underground...

Ok you'll have to dig up the garden a bit and it'll look an eyesore for a while but I imagine will a little imagination I would think you can have the best of both worlds.

Cheers
Dave.

That doesn't sound too easy to me.  It sounds like a lot of digging, pick axing, hammer drilling, the finding of unexpected drainage pipes, skip hiring, and mess.

I've learnt when it comes to people telling me that a DIY job is simple that the Rule of Twices apply.  It always takes Twice as long, is Twice as hard, is Twice as Complicated, and costs Twice as much as first planned.  ;D

Personally, I can't see what the problem is with sticking it all in the garage; I'm not lucky enough to have a garage; but if I did that's where my gear would go.

This is what garages are designed for (storage of stuff) and even Wor Lass whose a 'tidy freak' and suffers with an Obsessive Cleaning Disorder would allow me to do that.

To me it's the most obvious solution.
