Prochem Microsplitters?
« on: June 15, 2005, 12:12:32 am »
I got a glimpse of the new Prochem catalogue today - 'Multi-purpose carpet cleaning powder with new soap-free, enzyme-free and fragrance-free formula. Complete rinse and residue free cleaning'

Watch this space...........

Hi9 Guys,

I've been suprised that the likes of Prochem/Chemspec etc have been so slow in bringing out their own 'microsplitter' products.

They must have seen a fall in sales of traditional products.

Cheers,

Doug

sounds like another step forward mike, powder is cheaper than liquid normally, can't be classed as a micro splitter being a powder tho can it ?

Matt,

Phosphates are powders which are readily soluble in water.

Products like Dry Blend etc,  will already contain about 20% phosphates.

'Microsplitters' are phosphates dissolved in water.

Doug

i'm prob going to come accross as a bit thick here doug !but i'll ask anyway,,  would this powder be added to the machine or diluted down and used through a sprayer like the current liquid microsplitters?...in my understanding traditional powders get the dirt to stick to the detergent on contact and then extracted off...m's split the dirt then its extracted with a clean rinse....IF this new powder is added to the clean tank why can't the current liquid m/s ?

Matt,

As I understand it the detergent helps to wet out the fabric and the phosphates then shear the dirt.

The detergent also helps to suspend the dirt in solution.

If Prochems new product is indeed  detergent free phosphates then agitation would be required to shear the dirt,  so I would presume it would be presprayed.

It could be put in the tank and then worked in before being extracted ,  but then more would be left in the carpet.

Maybe Mike can give us some more details?

Cheers,

Doug

Maybe Mike can give us some more details?

The products listed under 'Pre-sprays and Maintenance Products' and I'd expect it to be presprayed, agitated and rinsed with fresh water but to be honest, at the moment, I know nothing more than this:

Pure Clean NEW
Multi-purpose carpet cleaning powder with new soap-free, enzyme-free and fragrance-free formula. Use in extraction, bonnet, spray cleaning and spotting for complete rinse and residue free cleaning. White powder.
Dilution 1 to 66 pH 9
Case Qty. 4 x 4K C409-04 / 4K £17.95

We'll obviously have it in stock shortly so we'd appreciate any feedback.

I've tried other Microsplitters and they've performed OK. Lots of people have said they've tried them but haven't got on with them and lot's of people swear by them. My argument has always been that I think it's the agitation that makes more of a difference than the actual chemical performance. I think that one of the good things to come out of Microsplitters is that people are encouraged to agitate where they may not have bothered before with normal chemicals. I think you'd get pretty good results with most standard chemicals if you agitated it properly.

Obviously, the claim of lower resoiling is an advantage (although again I would question how much soiling you'd get using normal chemicals propoerly anyway) but if M/S are just full of phosphates they're not going to have a particularly good environmental profile.

It's all swings and roundabouts!

Doubtless some people won't be happy that Prochem have finally launched this.

Regards

Mike

I agree , microsplitters have taught me to agitate. I've been using my 'old' chemicals recently and agitating them with my rotowash. The results have been very good, much better than before, and just as quick as the ms.

Will still try the Prochem range though.

But as I read on a posting somewhere Micro Splitters have moved on.

I have to say that at present Solutions apears to have a good U.S.P.

Because even if you do not promote it as an Allergy aid product, its still gives Value Added.

Not that Im in the Network.

Ian,

We know you are not in 'THE NETWORK', as you had to pay an extortionate price for your 'Hunter vac' from Somerfields.

 :) ;D :D

I think it's because they deal with California and they have a very strict chemical law, Richard Suddall was telling me a few years ago.
