FREQUENCY OF CLEAN

For a typical house on a domestic job how often would you expect to clean the windows.   (in weeks)

Thanks

We do every 4 or 8 weeks.

8 weekly cleans cost 25% more than 4 weekly cleans.

We also do a 'call out' service where the customer phones when they want their windows done and for that we charge twice the four weekly rate and we will fit them in at the soonest possible time usually within a week.

We find the above works well and the 'callout service' keeps thing interesting.

We had some days where we've worked from morning to night as a result but I love window cleaning anyway and the hard work is great. Not forgetting the financial reward of course.

Cheers

Ross

I do 5 week cleans and 6 week cleans. I do this because some customers wanted 4 week and some 6 week so I said lets go in the middle and do 5 week. The 6 weekers are customers I picked up from other w/c.

Thanks.  Sounds like a good idea. I think I'll try that pricing policy.

I go with 4 weekly. The added benefit of this is more customers so if anything goes pear shaped with a particular customer or area, you still have a lot to fall back on...

Hi Salmon

I forgot to add that the call out service took nearly 3 years to get to a sizable number.

Now our 'callout' customers number (I think) 5 times our regular customers and some only phone once a year. Some have never phoned again. Some I have got to know who phone every so often. Some love the fact that they can phone when they want us. A lot prefer regular window cleans. It horses for courses.

Last monday the whole day was call out customers and a lot of driving. We earnt a bomb.

It keeps you on your toes and the constant new work gets your technique really refined and your ability to deal with any problems leads to experience.

It takes time to build up but it's worth it in the end.

Cheers

Ross

every 6 weeks aprox, this is 6 weeks IF I HAVE NO TIME OFF

i only work 3 days a week as i look after my daughter and my wife works the other 3 days ;)

so its about 7 weeks now, but its nice to have too much work, as if you lose a odd customer its no drama

I agree, I like having to much work.
I like Ross idea of the call out charge being a lot more, it makes sense, and what about them customers that only call you when they want them done. Wouldnt we all like to have w/c like that, so for them they should pay a lot more. I only have 2 of these customers and when they next call I am going to explain the extra charge and the reason.

Cheers Ross

Ross's idea makes so much sense. I generally clean every 4 weeks, but I get the occasional one who thinks they can't afford £9.50 every 4 wks so they ask to have it done 8 wkly, therefore cutting my profits on that house in half. I have been trying to charge extra for them but didn't know what sort of figure to use. Also the call out option means I have another option if they don't want to pay the extra 8 wkly.
Cheers Ross!

We do a 'once a calendar month or nothing' for our residential customers.

I've lost a few mind, because I wouldn't compromise on cleaning frequency; but nothing to worry about.  These customers were the 'not this month please' type that weren't worth having anyway.

One asked me to add them back onto my round yesterday, citing the only reason she asked me to do it every other month was because she was having work done.

I said I would for £8.50 per month (I put the price up from £6.50 to £8.00 when she asked me to come every other month), first clean would cost £12.00 and she pay by monthly standing order.

She said 'Yes'.

I'd say you've got to lay out your stall, giving the price and the frequency and then stick to your guns if they 'purchase' your time and effort.

It not fair that customers subsequently try to change the terms and conditions in order that you have to work harder to save them a few pounds.

We clean all our estates fortnightly. Those who prefer monthly dont pay extra but when we put up our prices those who want to change to monthly are charged extra because the grudge us our pay rise every 2 years.

I offer 6 weekly.  I will only consider 12-weekly if I'm earning at least £40 out of it and I've got a good price anyway.  I won't do any other multiples other than those as my round is quite widespread.  It would mean going too far out of the way for one job.
