Agitation
« on: January 04, 2010, 01:59:12 pm »
For all those of you who are fed up of using a brush as a form of agitation - take a look in the for sale section.
Someone has an Envirodri machine for sale- the wider 16" model as well.

I use the duo and the Orbiter but the best tool seems to be the "Perky" carpet brush bought for £20 :D. I'm finding it just as thorough and to be honest, the excercise is doing me good ;D

The thing that puts me off is the fact that the Evirodri isnt intended for "Wet" agitation which is why I've stopped using the duo. I'm concerned about putting my customers and indeed myself at risk of electrocution and if the worst did happen, I wonder and doubt whether your insurers would pay out ???

I bought mine off the Envirodri rep after a demo. I asked the question re agitation and he said it was ok.
Maybe the story got around because perhaps Envirodri would like you to use their sponges as a method of carpet cleaning, rather then use the machine just for agitation.

Just knowing that the machine is going to do a brilliant job at agitation, I tend to use less prespray anyway.

You van always wear big rubber boots.  ;)

I had thought it was more of a warranty issue with them than a danger one.

I think that the Envirodri is too big to use for just agitation

I think Simon's right. The machines, and those of most other manufacturers, are not designed to work in a wet environment, which is why they would have the option of declining a warranty claim.

However, having two E40's and using them for about 6 or 7 years, they seem to be built like brick $*%+ houses and on the rare occasion that I've needed support from Envirodri they've been brilliant.

My advice to anyone contemplating an E30 or E40 is to go for it.

Colin

The Envirodri and similar machines such as the Prochem TM4, Flexi-5 etc. are in a totally different league to your Sebo Duo. Further, I can't understand how you're getting better results with a carpet brush than with an Oreck Orbiter. Did you plug it in?

Joe
Once you've experienced superior agitation, you'll make sure that you will find space on your van for it, even if it means a roof rack ;)

Safe and happy cleaning :)

I'm not saying the brush is better than the Oreck ??? But why use a sledge hammer to hit a nail home? If the job warrants a bit more agitation, then the Oreck comes out to play :D But in most cases I'm finding the brush more than suffices.......

Simon. All I am saying is that I personally wouldn't use something knowingly for a job it was not intended for. If the company won't cover you for it as it possibly constitutes misuse of that product, then this is wriggle room for your insurers!

You can tell I've been reading up on my Health and Safety can't you ;D ;D ;D

Colin the only thing i found when using a brush was by the time you have done 3 or 4 rooms the last ones don't get as well aggitated as the first 2 with the envirodri 1st to last all get the same.

I have to say, from an excercise point of view, brushing is far superior to using an Envirodri. In smaller premises I may well use a brush.

But the object of the customer paying me to do a job is to get their carpet as clean as i possibly can.
The agitation from the Envirodri is far superior to that of a brush.

I have not used an Oreck and I am sure it does a good job, but its a different action to the Envirodri, and possible the Envirodri is a better action at that, because it lifts rubbish from deep in the carpet to the surface.

I'm not disputing whether it does a good job or not Joe, I've heard they are good. I would never question your expertise either Joe, only a fool would do that :)

Kind regards.... Col

Yes find the carpet brush adequate for most jobs, especially domestic.
Did use the power brush the other day but that was in a large, virtually
empty bungalow. Every room was spacious so it did not get in way and
the size of the job made it worthwhile getting it out.
Find it too restrictive and slower in small single living room jobs.

Me too, the envirodri is well worth the investment the results speak for themselves.

You spoil them  ;) got a mate who learnt the trade by using an upholstery tool on carpets (he doesn’t let me forget it)
