Rotovac Original or 360?
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:46:47 am »
Just wondered if anyone has used the original Rotovac wand and also the 360 (for carpet i mean) and could tell me which one is best?

I have not tried the original at all.

I have had a short time, say 15 min, using the 360 and I would need more time to get used to it but certainly would not dismiss it at this stage.

Have you been on You Tube, type in   rotovac 360.

Very impressive video cleaning a red carpet in a Chinese restaurant in the UK.

Early models did have a power problem due to the switch from US to UK market but I understand that has been sorted now.

I know Goron Knight has one and Dave Ingram, but Daves I believe is a 115v and he uses a transformer.

Hope this helps.

Jase,

Stop procrastinating and have a demo machine. I'm going down to Royston on 6th Jan, I'll pick one up for you if you like or you can have a go with mine (twin head). That's a twin head Rotovac before anyone get's the wrong idea.

lol - hi Adi - we must stop meeting online like this - are you following me!!??

i'd love to try a demo machine - its the 360 i really want to try out, i've just called Alltec but no one there till nxt week so i'll call again then

dont really have the cash for one at the mo - ideally wanted a used one but seems none out there up for sale - so it'll have to be slapped on a 0% credit card i spose!! but need to make sure its gonna earn its keep first!!

Am I following you? Yes........I'm behind you.

Alltec not open untill Jan 4th.

IMO  you would be better off with an SX12 for hard floor's. The agitation of the "ordinary" twin head Rotovac is superior to the 360 and easier to handle. You can try my SX12 as well if you like. Which porty did you have, the 600 or 1200?

ive been looking into this again over the last few days

the rx is a rated machine but everyone i speak to who has one says it rarely comes off the van due to its weight and size, thats no good for me as i want something light enough to tackle the really grubby domestics i get loads of! Thing is though, Chem Dry use an adapted rx - is theirs smaller for domestic use or do they just all have biceps like Popeye??!!

i like the look of the 360 and the 360i will soon be available to me which has been improved again over the 360. The thing i like about the 360 over the RV powerwand is it seems easier to cover carpet quicker as its more self propelled like a rotary machine. It can also do hard floors and the 360i has been improved for hard floors to stop overspray.

anyone give me more feedback on the 360i?

thanks

I have not heard of the 360i.
What is its difference over the 360?

You may well have to go to the US forums to get a good viewpoint of the 360 and 360i - the 360 has been out over there about 4 years, over here about 2 years.

You will find the 360 ok for domestic situations. If you could use a rotary in a room, you can use a 360.

just my opinion but i feel that for domestic they are too awkward to use its another power cable to deal with. the twin headed version i have always found you get a line in the carpet  where the two heads meet. dont get me wrong they do clean well but i would say at 5 times the cost of a decent wand. In fact a brand new envirodri and a top end wand with glide and you will still have enough change for a long weekend break.

\if you can find a S/H one for say 700 fair does but IMO its too expensive new at 1500

thing is i cant see that a wand could ever match the mechanical agitation and passes of a motorised tool - its just not physically possible for us to do that with a wand!

as for using in a domestic environment - they are very lightweight and i cant see it would be a problem

dont get me wrong, i know what you are saying about the enviro and decent wand, but if i could prespray, agitate with a brush then use the rotovac to clean and agitate some more surely thats easier and more efficient? i have always thought a combination of rotary/mechanical agitation and HWE is the most efficient/best cleaning method so my thinking is telling me a 360 will make my life easier by cleaning the carpet better and cutting down on after spotting.

OK - they arent cheap, but in comparison to the RX (£2800plusVAT) they ARE cheap and the 360 is impossible to get secondhand so will always have good resale value

On the American sites they do rave about them - ive never fancied the origianl powerwand but the 360 looks like a good time saver and maybe a poor mans rx or a domestic rx?

my advice to you would be make your own mind up by having a demo for few days and then use an enviriodri and wand and compare the results before splashing out.

Richards right go and have a demo on the machines and see how you get on.

Even better like myself i would maybe ask a fellow c cleaner near your area if they have one and have a go,i know i did that last year with some very helpfull c cleaners before i got a new set up :)

For me it was a no brainer.
Having had a RX and still have the Prochem power glide which is the same as the RV twin head but bigger the 360 covers all the flooring I clean from carpet tiles to hard floors.
Having all 3 heads there is not a surface I can't clean before I use to use a spinner tool for hard floors at 600-800 psi but with the 360 I only need 150-200 psi because of the mechincal action from the brush.

When I had the RX it was only ever used for large commercial areas due to the weight and cumbersum size, most of the time it lived in the shed waiting for the next large job. But with the 360 because to is so light it lives on the van and with the different heads its an all  round  winner.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying one is to stop thinking and get on and order one.
