Hi Steve

I am in Kent and have not used an agency to date but would be v.interested particularly over the long school holidays as a lot of my girls are mums. The price you have been quoted sounds very reasonable!

If they cover as far as Kent or if anyone can recommend an agency in my area to call upon please let me know as soon as pos!

Many thanks

Maggie :)

Hi

I'd be interested to know who they are and if anyone has used them with any great success. How reliable they would be supplying cleaning staff at those rates across different parts of the country I'm not entirely sure.

Obviously with agency staff you don't have to pay NI, holidays, sickness, etc so the prices they've quoted are very good. However, agency staff can be just as unreliable and if it's just for the odd shift you never know what sort of person is going to turn up.

Mike

I have used agency staff in the past and will now avoid them like the plague.

You normally get the dregs of society who can't get work anywhere else.

They have no pride in the work they do as they don't need to! They will be somewhere else in a couple of days.

Hi All, I have recently opened a labour agency and I have been thinking of opening a pressure cleaning business, so I have been on the forum trying to learn more about it. My prices vary on what the labour is needed for but as I am new I'm trying to be competitive. Could interested people pm me and tell what their requirements are and then I can send a proposal through. I'm based in London but would be interested in suppyling labour to other areas in England if possible. Thank you and may I add that this is one of the most informative and helpful forums I have come across.

Hi all

As in all industries I'd like to think that each recruitment agency is different, it is therefore extremely unfair to tar all agencies with the same brush!!!! :-[ (CMS).

My company specialises in providing staff at short notice to cleaning companies based in the South-East on a temporary basis mainly for holiday cover. To date we have never had any complaint about the standard of our cleaners and we offer a full money-back guarantee if not satisfied). Generally the staff on our books are highly skilled professionals who take great pride in their work!! (obviously they would'nt be on our books otherwise).

The prices you have been quoted for workers seems very reasonable £8 days / £9 nights but maybe that is because the labour supplier is in close proximity. My normal charges are £9 days and £12 nights but as I am based in London. Also you must check out the company first and make sure you have guarantees.

Good Luck
Jaz

I have been in touch with the agency and they mainly cover from York to oxford down to reading
And all London and over to Essex including all the midlands and the east cost of England.
they will do any cleaning work but mainly
factory/shop fit/hospital/new builds not 1/2
Hour office cleans.
They can supply 1 person or 30 people next day
which are mainly east Europeans and have there
own mini - busses to deliver them.
They gave me two companies to contact for references
so if you get a big job or you want there details
Pm me and I will send you there contact details

Being involved in the supply of contract cleaning staff for a number of years we have come across many competitors who offer a similar service using cheap labour from overseas. In order to safeguard your interest you may wish to check a few of the following just to be on the safe side:

- cleaners are Eastern European, how good is their command of english as there is nothing worse than trying to explain something to someone who's grasp of english is very poor.

- language also has important implications for H&S and COSHH regs.

- are the staff legal to work in the UK as you are now liable for a fine of up to £2,000 for knowingly using illegal labour.

- what kind of indemnity insurance are they able to offer?

As I said not all agencies are the same but you must be careful of the unscrupolous ones out there and there are many....

Hi all
I have talked about this subject on a couple of other postings, as i have used agencies to cover us when we have too much work for the current staff to cope with.
I have been given the dreggs of human society in the past, but after a phone call from myself to the agency and setting up meetings with them to discuss to kind of people i need, i no longer get duff cleaners. Communication is a key here.
And i know this has been discussed on other postings, the best cleaners i have had from the Agencies has been Polish Workers, and have voiced my thoughts on the use of such, but i do feel that i have found particular good cleaners from Poland and understand from other posters that their experience has not been as good as mine.
The Agency i use have fairly good rates.....£8.20 per hour plus VAT....and have chatted up their Sales Manager over coffee and doughnuts and this is now a flat rate no matter how many hours they do a day. Most Agencies i have used in the past have stitched me up with overtime rates after 8 hours!! So a winner there!!
But the other bonus is as Mike has mentioned above....no wages, insurance, tax, holiday pay etc etc to worry about.

Have not been on the forum for a couple of days, so appologise for the dalay.
I use a company called "first call" who have a number of offices dotted around the area. The number for the office i use is: 01442 400699
They may be able to provide you with their nearest branch, if indeed they have any near yourself.
