Get ready for the floods............
« on: December 22, 2009, 11:41:41 pm »
All you restoration guys out there must have a little nervous thought ticking in the back of your heads  :-\

Freezing weather & lots of snow normally means a good old double whammy of burst pipes indoors and rapid thaws causing floods  >:(

Nice prospect of being on emergency jobs all Xmas and new year :(

Makes me feel glad I don't do floods any more but I feel for those who do!! I'll tape the queen's speech and fools & horses for you  8)

Freezing fog and ice this morning in deepest darkest Somerset but I'm done now for Christmas.

As I have no intention of using the TM until next week I thought I would run some anti freeze through the truckmount save putting the heater on every night. Within seconds of finishing it started raining. ::)

Do you dilute the antifreeze Mike? and where do you put it? through the lubricant hole?

No in the header tank and run it through system back to header tank. Same as if you were descaling.

I bough 5L from Halfrauds. I think it would have been cheaper to just run the leccy radiator. ::)

Dave Ingam put me on to this, he's saved me a few bob this year.  :) Most tm have the procedure in the manuals under 'winterizing' LOL

Today we have removed the truckmount from the van and put it into the garage because between the 27th - 31st there is work to be done in Scotland, Derby, Nottingham, Lincoln.  None of the jobs require the truckmount as its all LM and abit of porty work.  So to save on fuel we removed the TM as the van will be covering over 1000 miles.  Typically a hour after the TM was removed we got a flood job in.  I went and did it with the porty.
