What you getting Mark?

Is the Panther as old as the van, 700 hours is lowish hours.

From your post above, my view is that your existing carpet cleaning work ie existing clients, friends and family, is not enough on it's own to support a viable specialist carpet cleaning division within your business. I feel that you will need to treat this venture as a new startup and develop the business to become profitable in it's own right with a dedicated technician. This may then be able to profit best from a truckmount.

If, however, you want to clean carpets within your existing client base, friends and family, forget the TM and buy a portable and rotary along with the ancilliaries. You could well be able to use your existing vehicle(s) as long as you have somewhere suitable to store your new kit when not in use.

You need a focused business plan before you make the commitment. Then all you have to do is execute it.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

THIS IS A MONSTER DESIGNED TO WORK 24 / 7 / 365 WITHOUT RELIABILITY ISSUES.THIS MACHINE COULD EASILY EARN OVER £2000.00 / DAY. Sounds a good buy

The only problem I see with TM's is.
If the van breaks down so does the TM.
Think next step up from porty for me would be top of the
range Prowler.
The more I look at them the more I like them.

I have a prowler 13hp with 1000 psi pump and would recommend it. I only do carpets, no hard floors/pressure washing and find the power more than enough. The new model has 2000 psi pump. I have never run over 150 ft of hose off it (cant fit any more than that in van) and vac has been good.

one of the main things for me is the simplicity of the prowler and keeping it earning. Im not terribly mechanicly minded and have found that the minnor probs iv had JK can direct me over the phone, had some limescale particle blocking chem injector this week that was simple enough to sort out. Greasing is easy, changing oil on honda engine is easy, spark plug accesible etc. I think the main  componants are bolt on and easily replaced if needed.I know the honda engine unit can be bought from norhern tools for example.
Another bonus is no smelly waste tank to deal with and a very easy to clean vac filter.

Cheeky git!  I'm a right looker me ;)

Very hectic over here mate, you could say!  I'm in the closing stages of a house renovation, trying to move in, during the Xmas rush whilst also getting my new TM setup up to speed and helping the mrs start her new job.........

So little wonder I forgot to do my vat return on time and am gonna get my bum spanked by mr tax man :-\

Done a little bit of leather but tbh after the last one, a full 2-tone suite to restore, I decided I wasn't going to do that out on site any more, just not comfortable with it.  Customer was chuffed but Jedi Master Andy would have frowned on it for sure :D  The light was terrible and spent half the day shuffling sofas & chairs in and out of the centre of the room!

The TM has been an experience so far.  Can't say too much but I'm dismayed at the customer service I've had (with van and machine), both getting the unit on the road and with ongoing issues.  If I was a free agent with £15k to spend I'd be heading elsewhere for a new setup.

But using it is awesome, all I need is a helper to manage hoses for me ;D  Got a soaking wet leg the other day in the rain, I find the only way to get vac hose on reel is to have it runinng round the back of my leg to get it straight onto the reel, not good in the rain!

The wet leg job was also my first nightmare terraced street job, arrived and no space outside.  had already emphasised i needed to park outside when doing quote....custy says "oh there was a space here half hour ago i thought i'd leave it free for you" DUHHHHHHHHHHHH

I ended up going hoses across pavement under my ramp from van, then 100ft along front of houses, then 50ft through hall into lounge to do the job ;D  Never walked so much to do a through lounge :(

truckmounts are THE way to go - one man can earn a lot of money - and with less physical effort/ease of use.

I am abt to buy a new unit - and my Prochem Blazer Plus and Van are for sale £7000 - the ideal enrtry into the world of truckmount cleaning!

300ft run of hoses today to clean an empty apartment. Blueline 'T' Wave Vortec so only need second power setting. Finished the job, packed away, hoses quickly electically reeled in  ;) and away. Awkward layout inside the building, but 3 hours later without even breaking sweat and £1 for every foot of hose run in my pocket, and two very satisfied people, the client and myself!
