« on: November 24, 2009, 09:49:34 pm »
Ok gonna buy the 18ft slx for my mrs when Alex gets em back in stock.
On the buying options you get to pick the brush you require but i aint got a clue what they are, here is the list
flocked dual trim (dont know what flocked means or dual trim?)
Dual trim?
Single trim.
Can someone help me choose which brush and also tell me what they mean
I thank you

and now for an answer.

dual trim - two different length bristles, helps scrubbing
single trim - figure it out  :)
flocked - fluffy bristles
mono - like a regular brush bristles.

personally i'd go for the dual trim mono.

I have this brush on 2 poles, I find its the best for me.

so why did non of you like the flocked duel trim, did you have one before using the mono, or was it  reomended, or what was your reason for changing over to mono

We used to use the dual trim monos on our poles, but Alex recommended the dual flocked and we have have stuck with these now. Great for scrubbing, and also for rinsing on the glass, also found they are better for use with hot water.

I find the water flows better through a mono brush than a flocked.
I used the unger extel flocked and didn't like it.

sorry to ask all these question, so which would you say was the better for first cleans, i mean glass not clean in a year for instance, would you say the mono, then for regular maintainance the flock or just use the same mono, i have the sl-x but have no experience with the brushes or know which one  is for each job

I have had no complaints with either. I always used a mono vikan, best brush i had used but heavy, that was until i tried a mono from Alex. Then i asked about a different brush as we had alot of first cleans to complete, Alex said use the flocked one, ordered a couple and now use these all the time. We find them much better at scrubbing and they glide across the glass well imo.

i did have a little trouble with the flocked brush, but i think that was down to me using the sl-x for the first time, on 2 and 3 ups, the pole is light and the brush to, i was used to the xtel and harris with sill brush, so i put it don to the lightness of the brush and working at height, i had trouble scrubbing with the flocked brush, or am i using the wrong one for that height for scrubbing power,

flocked brushes collect and keep dirt, so you are scrubbing the dirt off and its stuck to the fluffy bristles,...and trailing all over the glass.

pap.  ;)

I've a dual trim mono superlight that desperately needs replacing,.. it doesn't like if the water goes much over 70 degrees though,.. I did manage to deform some bristles a while back on a first clean!

i used and still use the sill brush, and never had 1 problem, but now am working higher, its a whole new ball game, so from what i gather from everyone the mono seems to be the best choice, so if i get one of those i wont be a pap  ;D

That's the one thing that puts me off. I rinse on all the time, and never get any complaints, don't see any spots either, that is using a mono. Would love to try a flocked brush though.

It doesnt matter if you have dirt on the brush as the most important part of the cleaning process is the rinse.
brushes do get dirty, as you are using them on dirty glass, remember, the brushes are there to "gently agitate" the dirt not buff it up like a microfibre or scrim.

I know you aren't well experienced yet with wfp, but that post couldn't be further from the truth. If you rinse off, yes. If you rinse on, having a clean brush that doesn't hold much dirt is very important.

A good mono does not get dirty on maintenance cleans.  :)

Why you would ever want to rinse off is another matter alltogether. I do not think it is ever necessary to lift off, just more chance of injuring yourself. I've been rinsing on for over a year now, and never get any problems. It's down to the perfect brush from Gardiners really. Don't have to worry about it anymore, I just get on with the clean. Perfect.

I use the dual trim mono. Great brush but to be honest, the dual trim feature has little affect above 18ft as it's hard to get enough pressure on to get the inner (shorter) brissles to touch the glass.

I'm going for the single trim mono next. ;)
