I always rinse off, at the mo I haven't any windows that are high enough for me to rinse on. the highest windows are 30ft.

I use the dual trim mono. Great brush but to be honest, the dual trim feature has little affect above 18ft as it's hard to get enough pressure on to get the inner (shorter) brissles to touch the glass.

I'm going for the single trim mono next. ;)

Yea, it's funny how the Dual trim doesn't really matter in that way. I've never used a full trim mono, but I can imagine a Dual trim glides more easily over the glass because less bristles are in contact with it.

Have you tried rinsing on? You might be surprised. :)

Most of my work is sub 30ft as well, but rinsing on is so much easier on the body, arms and back, even with an SL-X. Then again, I've got a very high rate of speed, and I would be in serious danger of RSI or worse if I would attemt to rinse off at that speed.

The unger (re-branded vikan) flocked brushes are poorly jetted. Way too close to the centre of the brush!

Yeah but a pain when you require more scrubbing power. More bristles in contact with the glass = less work, especially high up. ;)

I haven't had any problems, physically, when I rinse off.
its down to personal preference in my eyes, I have the SLX and find it a doddle to rinse off.
I was rinsing off with a 24ft extel pole with a vikan brush lol

Flocked brush shifts dirt on 1st cleans easier than mono but it starts bleach runs  easier as well on perished black rubber window frame seals, especially if using hot water. It's also kinder on georgian style wooden window frames.

Safer bet for newbies is to buy a mono filament and you can't go wrong.Single trim has more scrubbing power but double trim reaches everything.

Trippy it doesn't really matter which of these brushes you get. It will be a better alternative than most other types anyway. Alot of what you read on here is just semantics.
Whichever brush you buy, you will learn to use it to its best ability and you will post on a future topic like this, that the brush you bought is very good.

I use a duel trim flocked a fantastic brush, I like it more than the vikan mono, I have tried loads of brushes, and the dtf is great for rinsing on or off the glass, lite enough.
I did try a mono version and did not like it at all, but I think this has been changed by alex for a newer version now  :-\

Ok i've never used wfp, but considering it for the new year. I have a couple of questions from reading this post.

1) is there a brush that's suitable for all jobs, ie first cleans, maintainance cleans, high level & low level cleans.

2) rinse on & rinse off, would I be correct in thinking Rinse off- scrub glass first then hold brush back allowing water to rinse glass. Rinse on - hold brush just off glass to rinse debris then scrub ?

May be obvious to the experts, but thought I would ask.

Thanks Paul

Well said Mark.
It's true, any of the super-lite range will be fine. A lot does come down to personal preference or specific types of job. As said, I use the dual trim mono for 100% of my wfp work & it's more than up to the job. It's just sometimes I think for higher work I could benefit from the full trim by having all the bristles in contact with the glass, so that's why I'm gonna try it. ;)

Hi Trippy.

The dual trim super light mono filament is the same brush I sold you on those X-tel poles a few months back.

18FT SLX with this brush would make a good choice for your other half to use on a daily basis, if she's strong the 30FT SLX might make a better choice if your thinking of taking on work at greater height.

P.S got 50 metres of mini-bore if you know anyone who's interested.

I use a dual trim mono for everything. Its the only brush I have ever used really, but it does the job fine.

Rinse on/off, means rinsing with the brush on or off of the window (ie touching or not touching the glass) but it is still done after the scrubbing part. cos the bristles of the mono dont hold dirt as much as the flocked(so I am told) it is easier to get a good finish when rinsing with the brush resting on the glass.

AsI said, I use the dual trim mono for everything, high, low, first clean, maintenance clean, sills.

It works for me, and if it ain't broke don't fix it!!

Cheers

Dual trim flocked was my favorite for a while untill it caught me out leaving a trail of spots where the bristles had dragged the glass on a rinse. Tend to stick with the mono dual but as young Anthony said it doesn't bring the short bristles into play at height (unless you use a scaffold pole).
I've got a single trim mono in the van somewhere - can't remember why I don't use it  ???
