ordered tds meter from pure freedom on sunday.arrived today.this is the start!still TRAD so thought id better test my water first!65-70 TDS!i thought it would be lower than that!is that ok for a twin DI ONLY system?on a meter so dont want RO.easier/quicker to fill up and no waste water.think im gona get a system from pure freedom and go down there for the night and go out with the WFP guy while system is being fitted!ive had no experience with WFP at all yet only 15 yrs TRAD! ;)ANY THOUGHTS GUYS?

i bet that by the 3rd or 4th time you wish you had done it years ago, i do, got myself a backpack and im off to get a 650ltr van set up this weekend, best thing i have ever done but i do believe that the years of being a trad cleaner will pay dividends in the end.

I do believe that Trad knowledge is a must, even when you use water fed poles. I always do the bottoms Trad.

With a TDS that low, you should get about 7,000 litres from a 25k bag of resin (500,000/70).  If that lasts say, three weeks, that would be about £25 a week on resin.  Setting up an RO would probably save you some money in the longer term but would be a bit of hassle and if you are on a water meter, you would be paying for at least double the water you actually clean with - due to RO waste water.

when you say you dont want waste water, why is this ? do you think di only will save you money against the waste of water ?

Im on a meter and I would never go di unless the water from tap was about 30 max, you will use quite a bit of resin unless you work part time hours

Twin DI's, dowex or tulsion resin & purify on demand (not fill tank through vessels) & you'll be fine mate.

My tds is 90ppm & I go through 2 bags of resin a year!!!!!! 400ltr van mount too.

Usually, the people who spout about resin usage & DI only set-ups are the ones who know the least.

i see MACMAC!u mean fill tank with normal water then when u start on a job its goes through the di then up to the brush pure?sounds GOOD!!.i was thinking 25quid a week for resin was a bit expensive!so about 200quid a year MACMAC on average?instead of 1100quid??if so i think that would be better for me.easier and quicker fill up and lower water bills due to no waste water.thanks pal.sometimes i dont know what to believe on here!! :

Yes mate. My resin costs £70.50 per bag all in, so £141 a year for me.
Follow my advice & things couldn't be simpler or easier. Resin brand & using on-demand are very important factors as, ofcourse is having 2 vessels.

Yes, ok, if you expand & find yourself using 6/7/800ltrs a day, every day you might want to consider an RO but, even then, your DI's can still be used with this so you arn't buying anything you wouldn't need anyway.

Let me know when you take the plunge & I'll help you the best I can.

That is a fair point, even though I would go with ro also, Dave morris did very simlar and now as far as I am aware uses ro and di because of wasting money

thanks mac mac.400 lts a day should do me  as i work on my own and no plans to employ!i wont be goin wfp till spring.getting a van before anything else!looking at a ford connect.i think i can fit a 400lt tank in the back.ill do plenty more research before finally taking the plunge!!

There's a bit of difference between D.Morris and Dazmond though?
The point is, look at me, for the sake of £140 a year why on earth would I even consider the outlay & hassle & extra space & equipment required for an RO? I reckon if I was on a meter it would cost me more per annum with an RO!!

+ I can fill my tank from any customers tap so I'll never be short of pure water. For me, an RO would turn out more expensive to run my business.
