« on: November 23, 2009, 03:44:35 pm »
im thinking do u all still use ladders sometimes!and still take them with u everyday?

1.need them for flat roofs and up and over garages for access?

2.v.dirty first cleans/oxidized frames etc?

3.gutter clearing/conny roof cleaning?

4.pointer for bottom windows when water might be an issue?

5.fascia/ soffit cleaning if v.dirty?

i dont have a set and nor do i intend to ever have a set, lets just say me and ladders dont get on and if i cant reach a window with my pole, then it cant be reached safely with use of a ladder either imo.

JRD have u never come across a new first clean with egg/putty/paint,etc on the windows?or a custy with a flat roof with a filthy window above it?a nursing home or flats etc where using a pole on bottoms windows in winter might be a hazard and it would be easier and safer to trad them with apointer?gutter clearing job?what u gona do?im going for it with a full WFP van mount next year but i think ill still need my ladders occassionally!

Started out ladderless but use them more and more - conservatory roofs, access over garage roofs, gutter clearance, hopping fences etc.

Not as yet no daz and if and when i introduce gutter cleaning to my services i will be paying out for a guttervac to use instead of climbing ladders :)

Likewise.I'm mainly wfp but I've got a few £30 odd jobs which, for whatever reason, the customers prefer to have their windows done traditionally.Their prerogative, and I'm no position to turn down good work.Ladders are fine if you're sensible.

If you had a shed load of gutter work then shelling out on a gutter vac is no prob.I've advertised for gutter work on my leaflets for a good few months now and so far I've had 3 jobs. Can't justify spending a lot of money if that's the way it's going to go.

still use them, there're still quite a lot of windows not suitable for wfp and easy enough to do with ladders.
and ladders are a tool as wfp is and if you want to be a complete window cleaner i think u need to have them.
if it's a good paid job and access  the windows are not an issue why not use them?

I have a transit, no roofrack now, and  no ladders,

just a telescopic one for cleaning con roofs and jumping on the odd balcony.... sits nicely behind my tank  ;)

I have them for placebo effect.
You explain that you don't use ladders, and you explain wfp and they are happy with that.
you appear without the ladder,
"where's your ladder?"
"don't use a ladder, Remember the pole?"
"yes, but wheres your ladder?" ::)
people don't mind you not using a ladder, but they don't trust you if you don't have one. :D

I take it around with me but it doesn't get used much.  When I got an SLX, it got used even less because it is long and light enough to bridge over many flat roofs.
