Pump problem? No water going in or coming out
« on: November 22, 2009, 10:43:52 pm »
Can anyone help.
Turned on the flow controller today expecting my WFP system to work fine and no water came out. Checked everything and can't see anything wrong anywhere. I changed the two pre-filters and resin the other day, done it several times before and did it exactly the same. You can here the pump increasing in speed as you increase the controller speed. I've taken the connectors of each side of the pump, when you put your finger over the whole there is no suction despite hearing the motor whiring around.
Any ideas? Is the pump simply knackered?
Cheers for any help,
Stu

Check your flow controller, my flow controller has a pressure shut off mechanism, also check that the tap on the tank is turned on.
I turn this off each night as my tap on my tank leaks slightly if left on, I have gone out first thing to start work set the kit up and no water, then realise I have forgotten to turn the tap on. its easily done.

Where is the pump situated ie high up or low down in the van?

I used to have mine high and had no end of air locks, but since ive put it low (nearly touching the van floor) its been ok

Suck the water hrough the pump, see if that works, may have lost it self prime. Usd to have to do it with mine all the time, as the last person said, if the pump i much too high air locks can happen. But as you said putting your finger over it and its not sucking then i would presume the selfprimer. Put some pipe on and give it a suck through.

dirt/debris under the diaphragm caused the same problems with my Sureflow pump.....take the top off and carefully remove the rubber diaphragm.

i have to suck the water through the pump loads of times, not sure why but it always works
