:) Ni ce set up ! I once used an A reg gold Nissan micra when I was a CD franchise!!
I  would  leave the porty there  , hook a supply fresh water hose to it , and drill a hole in the passenger footwell for waste to dump.  open the window to run your vac hose , there you go.

Yes i know !! Both jobs today were within 5 miles of each other,so didn`t drive far like that, and i drove slowly.
I have made some very bad decisions over the last week or so,the van being one of them ! And i will hold up my hands and say yes i have been a twat !

I was a head chef yes,but was made redundant,so didn`t start part time, just went in at the deep end, used my redundancy money to buy the set up,my wife ran a domestic cleaning business,so she subbed to me ! Then picked up the 2 letting agy straight away more or less !
I will be doing everything in my power to get rid of this van and buy newer from a main dealer with a warranty etc !

Yeah Joe i know it is crazy we went through the whole law of it all when we had the trouble with the saab. If a garage has it looked over by a third party that is fine cos it was them that had it inspected. If you have a third party inspected then any mechanical fault should have been spotted by them and it then becomes their problem in the case of a failure. The thing is though if you have ever had a inspection done by the likes of the aa or rac they have a clause that says they don't gaurantee that their report is accurate and that even though they say they have inspected and said there are no faults it doesn't mean that there aren't any faults.

So, my recommendation if you are buying a car from a dealer is don't let anybody apart from the dealer inspect it!

Cheers Goron

I bought a 55 plate Astra from a dealer, 5 weeks ago and we have had nothing but trouble with it...it came with three months warranty, first thing that went was a EGR sensor, £350.00 warranty doesn't cover this, dealer told me...but the time i left his office it did  ;D Now another sensor has gone and the turbo...£780.00 to fix....Your warranty only covers you up too £300  ??? Doesn't say this on the warranty i told him,...Got my mate who is a solicitor too give him a call to explain my rights as a customer on a vehicle as new as this and The goods of sale act !979...They have agreed to all the work and at no cost too me.

Nightmare bout your van Sherco, you just don`t expect it really !
Allways been pretty lucky with transport really, and can usually pick up on faults straight away, thinking back the first time i drove the van home in the wet,it didn`t feel safe ! should have taken it back there and then, the erratic feel of the way it put the power down ,was the diff going wrong,so lucky it didn`t go bang, could have killed me.

Would have had a rear strut brace too this eve,if it wasn`t for the van breaking ! Have to wait till next week now,got a 6 bedder to quote mon, told him on the phone expect in region of 4 to 5 hun,he said that sounded reasonable  ;D

You gotta laugh ! Going to drown my sorrows this eve / weekend

Oh I am because I'm seeing jump leads, traffic cone and a fire extinguisher in the picture ;D
That's just about covers all eventualities 8)
Let's just hope you don't get pulled over by some over enthusiastic young traffic cop because I'm seeing a few road traffic offences there in relation to secured loads and visability.

After thought:
Cancell all the parts ordered and scrap the van full stop, what you are spending on it could be spend on a £1000 van that will see you right for 12 months.
Or even hire a small van for £50/day

Well i finally got my van back on Monday. £776 for new recon uprated box,£255 for clutch and some labour at the garage,£100 for a mate to fit !
People i got the box from have sent out one with the wrong final drive, speedo is 11 mph faster than gps speed ,i assume gps is far more accurate ? so now speedo reads 60 9so real speed 49,at 3 thou rpm, redline is just after 4 thou ! It`s using more fuel, got to call company i got box from and see what to do next, can`t go on like this.
They will need to pay for fitting etc, loss of my van etc etc !
Yesterday nearly killed me,2 x 6 bed houses started at 8 was home at half 8 pm,2nd job, woman owns race horses, amazing house, her other carpet cleaner emigrated to France, she said she normally gets them done 2 or 3 times a year  ;D Hope she passes my number on to all her friends..

So in total how much has this knackered van cost you so far?

Three years ago I paid a £1750 deposit on a new Peugeot Partner, was paying £123 a month on it with a final payment due Nov 2009 of £4250, but in september 2008 I bought it outright.

Bet you would have been better of leasing or finance bying a brand new van?

Just about sorted now !! Been playing phone tennis with them since before crimbo ! Was hoping they would recon the box i sent them, but it was burnt out,and not repairable.
So i have booked it in for Monday, they will be putting the right final drive gear in for me,at last ,just means a long slow drive to Sidcup in Kent.
As far as cost goes, too flipping much ! Will be trading it in as soon as i can !

Mark, Mark, Mark?

When is this all going to turn round for you?

Hope its soon, for whats its worth I used to have a Golf Diesel for the ex, it was a brill car, allways started, pulled like a train, got me out of trouble when my tranny wouldnt start.

On the back of that I bought a Transporter, that lasted me 250+ miles till the clutch went. Basicly mate VW's are great as you well know, but I often wonder why we dont see many Caddys around, too expensive poss?

Anyway Happy New Year to you and I hope it goes easier for you this year. Oh and by the way, dont give up like you said you were going to we havent got anyone to laugh at or make us feel better!

Yeah it`s not so bad, they are paying as it`s their mistake, love my v dubs, and did get some good news prior to crimbo, mate bought me a 2ltr 16v engine  out of a corrado,to fit in the roc in the summer.
Have a huge list now, need the loom, ecu, manifolds, metering head, wur, etc etc,so that will keep me busy trawling forums for the parts !  ;D
