how long?
« on: November 19, 2009, 04:04:23 pm »
should I be taking to do say a three bed semi with 8 windows? I not too worried about being speedy gonzales at the moment and understand about grouping customers together for best earing power but a guide speed would be something to aim at. Thanks in advance. Tom

WFP 20mins first clean, 10-15mins per clean after.
Trad 20-30 first clean then 20 mins per clean after.

off a ladder i guess about  upto 2 mins max a window plus a few mins with setting up ladder etc... also depends on type of windows.

wfp id say around 10 - 15 mins max!

you will get quicker each month, be able to know where abouts to place the ladder and how many times you have to go up the ladder on bigger sized windows.

if you charge £10 for that 8 window house then thats £20 per hour if you have a good compact round but if its too spread out then you will earn alot less - try and work out how much you would like to earn an hour/per day.

you will find that some older style houses can take longer trad, due to bay windows and some access probs maybe.

alot of new houses are very straight forward now with not many access probs for the ladder.

just make sure you take into account time factor when pricing up houses.

like a twit I charged her 8 quid. when i get used to ladder position hopefully can speed up - Im feeling I should have charged her more but its like I need to build a round and don't want to put them off. Have a bit more posture with potential custies maybe

£1/ window is fair enough way to work your pricing till you are more sure of yourself

some will charge £1 per window and £2 per bay window.

make sure you price up conservatories right - with trad it can take up alot of time.

some customers will say i only have a small house! - but you are not cleaning the bricks (at least i hope your not) some small houses can have just as much glass as bigger houses.

In my humble....
don't even think about the first few houses you take on as being about the money. if you learn your trade from them and look at the mistakes you make with them, they have earned their keep ;)
