It looks crap? Did i hear you right...

If it works who cares. Some of you need to get over this van busines sometimes!

What estate have you got mate?

Heres the measuremnets for the 250 flat tank

Height..........325mm
Width...........825mm
Length.........1100mm

Just measure it out  ;)

Because if it looks crap, the customer may think its a con. and may think that you are a cowboy.

Why a 250 litre tank?  What about a 175 litre tank?

175 litres of water weighs about the same as 2 large adults - so an estate car would be quite safe enough. Laid flat with battens to stop the tank moving forwards/backwards or sideways, there wouldn't be a problem if you're only using the estate for travelling round town (i.e. 30 mph or less).

You can nip home to re-fill, if necessary. It depends how many houses you intend to do WFP per day.

Get a van when your 'round' warrants it.

If you want to use the estate for longer/FASTER trips - empty the water out.

Mike

exactly, its easy enough to fit eye bolts and secure the tank

for info purposes only, you know the risks with a 250 L in the rear, if in doubt consult a engineer, i take no responsibility for what you do after you read this info

infact if you search hard enough you will find the same size threaded bolts that secure your seat belts with a EYE on the top of them, they are made for securing racing harnesses in track cars, just remove the seatbelt bolt and change for a eye bolt, you allready have 2 built in points

then fit 2 more in the rear ( boot area )

get the strongest you can find, i went overkill and got the top range stuff when i did mine, i think it was Class 12.9

I'd just stick it all in a trailer, then at least you don't bugger up your motor.
You'd just have to get used to thinking about where you drive before you get there ie turning and not getting stuck in a dead end.

i have a astra van, and have to use all 4 seats, so it is a bit like an estate,  i find that it is ok, but i would get a 125 litre or 175 tank as this will fit better

i worked for years with 10 X 25 L barrels in a estate car

to be honest though, dont let the " window cleaner / brain surgeon snobs " put you off the idea of a small tank, it works well

most if not all customers do not care how you arrive to clean the windows, you are a window cleaner, they want clean windows, if you arrive in a top end van, a old banger car or a new Porsche 911, they just want clean windows, its fairly simple, though some just dont get it

Look ive had the vans,

...and im saying to you dont be so snobby, you will find as matt said, no one really cares what you turn up in. Do a good job, and work on from there. If youve got the money for a van then get one, but you can earn the same money out of estate car as you can in a van. Ok cant carry as much water but just go re fill.

Ive done the windows out of all sorts of vehicles, my frst one was a clapped out old ibiza, not the best condition, and i was always picking up work.

Sheeeeese guys. Let me tell you summit my little red van always picked up work, non stop, 2 - 3 a day in the street. And that van didnt cost very much...then i had the big posh setup, posh van...and i hardly ever picked up news ones on the street. They wouldve thought, "hes too expensive"

We are brain surgeons now??
Because we think putting a water tank in a estate car is a bad idea.

I have no problem with 25ltr drums. I used to carry 5 in the back when I first started. Just its a pain, when you have work away from your home town, because of running out of water.

measure how much space you have in the rear, then go from that size

250 L would be my choice

I'm not saying have a large van, what I am saying is we are tradesmen, MOST tradesmen use a van of some sort.
IMO if someone can't afford a van then I would tell them to look at the trailer option.
