living in a flat and producing water
« on: November 11, 2009, 01:08:43 pm »
got a little bored whilst it was raining so took the opportunity to take photo's whilst filling up the van.
Have a first floor flat and no off street parking so heres what I do.

I have installed my 4040 above sub landing window in hallway
waste goes out wall and into drain downpipe
pure after di goes under stairs and floorboards to front window, then zip tied to drainpipe.
I then connect a reel of hose (30 meters) and feed it to a hose on my rear bumper that goes up through floor and into 650 ltr tank, fills from empty in 3 hours.

I lay rubber mats over hose and put out a cone where it crosses pavement and limit the fill times to evenings and early mornings when street is quiet.

I am redecorating so eventually the ro will be concealed within a cupboard above my hallway window.

Maybe this will inspire/ be of help to someone in a similar situation , anythings possible  ;D
Anybody else had to set up this way ?

who needs RO systems?
you could simplify things enormously by saving your urine
and adding it to ordinary tapwater
it has great antiseptic qualities

Looks good,  I do almost the same pumped 4040 in the kitchen that connects to a hose-reel, hose runs downstairs to the van Di then into the tank.

If that was me in that flat the pipe would work itself loose from the ro unit then flood the flat underneath.  :o

I'd jump out of bed in the night to hear the sound of running water - flick the lights on and electrocute myself.  :D

Its happened already ! had a few teething problems in the early stages, fortunately I'm always around keeping an eye on things whilst the waters on.
I overcame this problem with the brass gecko fittings like the ones pingu uses ( thankyou pingu !) and all has been fine and leak free since then. ;)
