4040 membranes
« on: November 10, 2009, 06:39:54 pm »
Has anyone recently bought a new 4040 membrane?
If so which one have you bought and where from?
What results are you getting from them?

I have had a few problems recently and would like to know if anybody else has or if anybody can recommend a good product.

Thanks

I have had 2 in the last 8 months from cleaning spot and now need a third.

The first slowed right up after 4 months and so has the 2nd. Producing 150litre in 12 hrs. They told me that they had other problems and that there was a faulty batch and sent me a replacement. The same thing has happened.

I have used this system for 6 years and for over 5 years had never had a proble. I change the pre filters once a month and flush the system once every 2 weeks. The pressure is around 70 psi

What do you recon guys?

sounds to me like you have got another dodgy membrane.

we use 2 AK4040 membranes running off a grundfos pump.

No problems ever.

Personally I would flush it far more often, but you should get a few months out of pre-filters unless you are running a few vans.

With 70psi you should get good performance so most likely a dodgy membrane. I had 2 faulty membranes on a 300gpd unit I ordered from cleaningspot. Most likely cause of problem I was told is that the membranes have a shelf life and had been stored too long.

Oh...and speak to June at Gaps Water.

I have a ro-man unit but would guess with 4040 you just adjust the waste tap to max setting for waste so all the water is flushed through the membrane and down the drain.

I flush my ro-man unit for 10-15 minutes every time I put it on, this also ensures any bits in the pre-filters are washed away as they settle when unit is off.
