Hessian backed carpets where you can see it through the pile which shrink on contact with too much water (Over wetting). Yeah, you need a course to see what the fuss is about or someone willing to take you under their wing and show you....
Visit lots of carpet shops and look at cheapy rubbish carpets, look out for those minging old people/council house carpets and look at the backing. There are many many pit falls in this business mate and although the response you've had is negative and as you put it, rude, a training course will pave the way and make things a little easier.
