From experience in the last 2 months i have found a far better return in door knocking than just a simple leaflet drop, i leaflet dropped in the region of 1500 in the first month and only got 2 calls and out of that 1 customer, the rest of my start up work was family, friends of family and for the past 2 weeks i went out and knocked doors and just on saturday past managed to get myself 8 in the one day, not all are going to be 4 weekly but they are all future customers, then i got 5 new the previous week and 1 the week before(all repeats)  So its worth the knocking, i now have around 35 customers compared to this time last month where i had around 15 :) Im chuffed to bits and i love seeing my income rising each month, i have set myself realistic targets, set myself 5 houses on saturday and got 8, still have to go back and finish the area so i may get more :)

High what do you charge say for a normal 3 bed house?.

Knocking does get easier,   more custy's you have and get and a belief in yourself,

but the ole buterflies are ever present before a knock - i think many performers get this before starting a show.

Once YOU know you can do the job and do a great job knocking and rejection are not as painful,

if i see a badly maintaned house and don't won't w/c - cleaning i now feel its there loss not mine

well i dropped off nearly 400 leaflets on friday, not heard a thing, took me at least 2 hours i would say, intended going out today and hitting numerous areas, but with printer breaking down when changed the ink and having to look on-line how to fix that and with all the excitement of me ordering a backpack RO and poles it was nearly 6 when i went out for my first door knocking ever, door knocked 20 houses tops,(they were big luxury 5 bed places)and of the 12-15 who answered i got 1 and a couple of maybe's because cleaner never showed last time ,was well chuffed,it is a dirty foggy horrible evening so called it a day a 7,thought people would want to be settling down to watch soaps etc.Got it for £10,ten windows,I am thinking £8 for my min charge, but may have to review that for poorer areas,But still kicking myself, should of been a £12 gaff i recon, made the fatal mistake of taking her word for what windows were at rear,if what she said is right its ok but £12 would of covered any undisclosed extras!never mind its my first house and on a luxury cul-de-sac,so hopefully will lead to some more work, its covered by a couple of other cleaners, just hoping i have not trod on anybodies toes.

Ive just finished making my first batch of window cleaning flyers but i read on some of my previous posts and other members posts that knocking the door is better than just posting a flyer through.Well ive been thinking about if i was the potential customer and i would hate someone knocking i would much preffer to have it posted through.Someone knocking i would feel there being to pushy and it would put me straight off of them.I like to have time to think about things it's like going in a shoe shop, i like to have a good look first but straight away they say can i help, i just then leave i dont want to feel pressured and i would think alot of potential customers would feel the same way as me.Also i would't feel comfortable knocking i would feel pushy what are your views.
advertise in parish mags, and wait ;D

Well done chopsie, but I'd forget about leaflet only and carry on door knocking if I were you. Always ask if you can check the rear of the house just to make sure access is fine for the back of the house.

At the moment i only do a few window jobs but am trying to get more and the advice on here has made me decide to go knocking.I always think it's worth putting £2 on, just as a safe guard if theres a hard to reach window or something, anyway good luck in your quest for new customers LC.

Reading some of the posts on here, about putting out 400 and 1500 leaflets and getting only a few calls.

Their must be something major wrong with your leaflets, that is way below the average.

there aint nothing wrong with my leaflets, people are just too lazy to ring :)

LC if what you class as a normal 3 bed house has 3 windows plus a door on the front and 3 plus a door on the back then its around £7 why you ask?  Then again im in NI :)

Just been out for an hour today. I picked up 3 more custies 2x4 wks 1x8 wks. That's 15 new customers this month from a target of 50 for November, all except 1 from door knocking(the 1 was a recomendation). So I'm all for door knocking  ;D

Edit: I've just had some one phone from a leaflet I put through there door when there was no answer. So that's now 16/50 this month

Another 6 today by door knocking so it's 22/50 towards my monthly target.
